I was tempted to... but I had submitted my story to a publisher and I was not too sure if they wanted it until today. Took them 4 months to reject me.
How about you?

No, I didn't get around to writing anything for it. Too much time dA surfing and keeping up to date with essays. Have you done the creative writing sequence with Chandani?

Nope. I was supposed to do that next year but then I failed my previous English subject hence I do not qualify to take the second year English courses.
I do wish to take the creative writing though. It sounds like fun.

I've been offline most of August, Chris, either because I had lots of work or because I was on vacation. But you'll see more of me on september.

Heyo! I have been hoping that you would pop back up on Msn, but no luck. Anyway, I was a long hiatus from dA and I am still unsure whether I will be back here frequently enough. I agree that we should meet up and I just read that `darkcrescendo might be coming over.
P.S: Still getting used to this new-fangled look. I don't like it that much but I am not complaining And the mood button doesn't seem to be working.. hmmm

it's taking some getting used to, I have to say. I don't like how the 'comments' I get are now numbered in with journals and things - I always found it useful to know how many new comments had come in from my front page.
Yeah, I haven't been on MSN much because this isn't my computer so I'm not usually on very long. I'm meeting up with ^adrift on Wednesday in the city. If you have any time this week, note me - if I get a job soon my daytime activities will make it harder for me to catch up.

Do you use Firefox? Some greasemonkeys create a cute little script to restore the previous information now meshed into the 167 Messages. There are a couple of neat little stuffs too to be found on `doofsmack 's page, particularly in his journals.

Have you picked up the Bonehunter's by Erikson yet? I was wondering if Ganoes Paran makes a re-entry if so, because it felt like Erikson left a lot unfinished with him.
I'm just about to start on midnight tides but I've got to say, learning a whole new set of characters isn't a pleasing thought to me. I didn't see one repeat character on the cast page.
Later!

balhaza In reply to Morgath [2006-03-12 12:29:17 +0000 UTC]
Nope. Bonehunters is due to be released in August here in Australia, so it will be a while before I dig into it. A friend and I have been speculating the contents for Bonehunters and we came to conclusion that he will probably be talking more about the Crimson Guard, a bit more on the rebellion of the Seven Cities - he didn't actually conclude that did he - and possibly Ganoes Paran as the Master of the Deck. Hehehe. I am quite eager to know what's the Crippled God's reaction to know that just when he was granted a place in the Deck, here comes a Bridgeburner captain to spank him into line. Hehehe. He left a lot of things open in Memories of Ice and I believe it is about time he start to wrap things up if he does not want to exceed the ten books he has in mind.
Midnight Tides was a little confusing for me initially as well, until the same friend as above discussed that it was possibly a recap of what happened before the Seven Cities rebellion. The story itself is a stand-alone from the series, but then again, most of the books are. . Just remember there was a mysterious vignette of the branding of a Tiste Edur to a wall somewhere in Memories of Ice. I cannot get that out of my head for some reason or another.
Oh yeah. I've just helped myself to your City of Whispers. I will be posting a critique real soon, but for now, I'll just say that it is good, probably one of the better stories in the fantasy forum. Oh, and tenement can be translated as a building as well, therefore there is no need for tenement building.

You can always snatch a copy from harper collins in the UK. Ebay is your friend Oh! Crazy with the tenement thing! I've been using it as tenement building for ages but you are totally right now that I think about it. I know One-Arm's host is back in bone hunter's and it is about the remenants of Sha-ik's rebellion for the most part.
By the way! Many thanks for the great review! I replied but it is mostly me thinking outloud as I have a habit of doing sometimes when I am trying to figure out something as difficult as what goes and stays. So much easier to write the damn thing than edit it. After finishing it you tend to realize you have six-hundred and fifty pages of which 35%-40% is a clumsy, awkward bitch with strokes of occasional genius. I don't know if it was like this when you finished your book, but did you realize upon reading back over it that you knew the characters so much better at the end and things seemed to flow so much better than the beggining? It's nice to visually be able to see that progress at least for what it's worth, but it doesn't give me any more of clue as to how to fix a lot of the stuff at the front. Anyway, just a thirty-second lament to someone who I figure feels my pain on that,
Later,
~Morgath

That is very true, especially with my first novel, which technically speaking, is not really mine as it is my friend =moyan 's story, I merely translated it from mandarin to better suit an English audience. I started off without knowing the characters, only knowings bits of the them at a time. But at the end, I know so much more about them than before. And fixing the stuff in the front was one of my problems as well, as it would have severe ramifications for certain events. But then again, we are writers, not authors yet. A friend once told me the difference between a writer and an author is that a writer can always rewrite his or her story. perfecting it every edit. An author is one who has a polished manuscript and probably doesn't want more to do with it anymore, so there is no rewriting. But that is just a generalisation. Writing, or the act of writing, is actually rewriting.

Nope, I just stalk your page. It's incredibly rare for me to watch new people nowadays..passing at uni requires me putting limits on myself, and I don't think the list's gone over fifty for months and months now. Sorry.

Fifty? You watch fifty people?? Goodness my friend... You don't live on the internet! I do... unfortunately. But my list well below 20 and only 3% of them actually submit things. LoL.

Nope, I don't live on the internet - but I figure if I'm going to watch someone that should be a commitment to comment on what they produce. And 90% of those 50 are active poets. So it takes a lot of management to do that and have my own life!

Aw, balhaza, that's terrible news! I can't believe you lost your prose. That's happened to me before and... well there are simply no words that can entirely describe the feeling. I'm glad you're seeing it in a positive light... I look forward to your new prose. Cheers to a new era of writing.
