It's just a free badge that people give each other. I have seen a bunch of people with a ton of them. If you look above the "Give" button on the top of the screen you should see the llama. To give a llama badge to someone just go to "Give" and "Give a Llama badge" on someone's page. The more llamas people give you the more it will evolve. Many people find it fun to do.
lol

Hey Bill,
I checked out your comic. It's pretty cool and you definitely have your own art style going that works well for you. So where'd you get your inspiration for the storyline?

hey man! havent talked to u in a while, lol i stoped posting comics cuz mu ONLY mecanical pencil ran out of lead and i need to darken the other pages and i cant>< its an old comic and i have 3 versions of the plot, i kno its a good idea i just need a way to display it. lol
my inspiration is 1. FINAL FANTASY, yea dood i love this game expecially 7,10,and 12 i got my way of drawing hair from FF. 2. naruto, i think naruto is a good example of character defelopment, like if u see how he is in the first chap, to the most recent and how he's changed. 3. Kingdom hearts, also helps me with character developmenta like Riku and how he's changed, and what happened to sora after his travels. and 4. Bleach, i love the art style of this guy draws characters, and weapons lol i got the way i draw eyes orighinally from bleach and changed it a bit into my own way.
hey dood could u do me a favor? you see that Solum pic on my page, my dads computer is really uber slow and when i color on gimp it randomly closes the program and i didnt save so i keep having to start over, thats why i dont have any colored pics in a while, do u mind if u can color that for me, i dont care how u make it lol just make the hair brown XD thank u if u can

Drop me a link to it. I don't see which one you are referring to from your gallery. I'll do what I can, when I can, but I've been on hiatus from coloring lately due to playing Wolverine and Infinite Undiscovery. Once I finish those and the 2 other pieces I've been coloring, I can see about coloring that.
Just make sure you send me a link so that I can DL the image and drop it into photoshop.

nice comic stuff, you have really got the Manga styling sorted out, the use of the background shading with its dynamic movement lines, gives it that authentic feel.

Sorry I didn't respond on your thread from a few days ago; I got a bit sidetracked, and I can no longer find it.
Anyway, here's my general tips:
To notice flaws in your pieces, compare them to how it should be drawn in a realistic style. Anime, being an very stylized art form, requires knowledge of the general rules of anatomy, and breaking them in a way as to achieve this stylization, but retaining that recognizable "human" quality about them. If you are drawing directly into a stylized art form, it's hard to notice what you've done wrong, whereas a drawing realism will allow you to better find mistakes and fix them.
Regarding shading specifically, as you asked, it's important to remember a number of things when coloring. Paramount is probably an understanding of light and how it affects and produces color. Concepts such as "invisible blue", where shadows in an outdoor scene will often involve the blue light bouncing off of the sky to cast a slightly cool tone to shadows, are important to acknowledge and apply. These extend into other topics, such as the proper rendering of material, opacity, and how light affects transparent and opaque objects, or the ability to adapt to different lighting scenarios and make up your own. Trust me when I say that watching anime and looking at the anime style is not the best way to learn proper application of techniques, even within the style. Draw realism and apply what you learn there to anime, and observe the many colors and interactions of light that take place in a normal day; learn the subtleties of shadow and reflected light, and how it can sometimes be distorted or changed.
Lastly, always ask for critique, and know that there will always be someone above you that you can learn from. I constantly ask advice from other artists even in WIP's, and I'm certain that those artists ask others whose skill transcends their own.

Instead of an anatomy book, try looking through the various tools and features of Posemaniacs.
It's an excellent site with tons of anatomy references and exercises to help you practice.
Check it out here: [link]
Of course, feel free to buy an anatomy book if you really want to, but the site is a resource that you don't have to go out and spend $20 on.
