Mmm the best thing I can advise is to practice a lot. It takes a lot of work getting used to a tablet, especially if you've drawn with pencil and paper for a long time. But the more you practice, the more you'll find better ways to do things. Start out by copying pictures that have a style you like, and try to figure out how the artist drew it. When you get more comfortable, you'll be able to draw your own original work using the techniques you learned.

Well, all I really did was copy a lot of artwork that I liked when I was young, then when I got confident enough, I started to make my own poses with my favorite characters, like Vincent. XD It just boils down to practice, practice, practice. ^^

What software or programe do you use to draw with? I'm finding it hard to come up with a good one you see. Would you recommend any?

You like Vincent too? He would be one of my favourites, along side Noctis and Zack!

I use Photoshop + Wacom tablet for my digital artwork, but I've always been meaning to try out Painter, which seems to give a really artsy feel to drawings made with it.

And yes, Vincent is one of my favorite FF characters.

Generally Wacom is the leading brand for digital artists. I've always used Wacom and it's served me well.

Pretty much all the work in my gallery was done entirely with a medium-sized Wacom tablet and Photoshop. And the avatar I have on DF was done in Photoshop. I didn't draw that dog myself unfortunately, it's concept art from a video game and manipulation of a clip from a game trailer.

I find medium is a good size. The small one doesn't have enough room to draw with, and the large one takes up too much space.

That Wacom Tablet is fascinating stuff. How do you find it to use? What kind of difficulties (if any) might you encounter while using it.

Well I guess the biggest thing is just getting used to following the cursor while you're moving a pen around. While it's easier than drawing with a mouse, it's still a little weird at first not being able to see exactly where your fingers are going while you're drawing. It's kind of nice though because Photoshop can detect pen pressure from the pen itself, so you can almost paint with it. i.e. the stroke you're painting gets thicker if you press harder on the tablet. There are different techniques for it, since you can play around a lot with the settings on the pen, such as pen tilt and pressure affecting color, brush jitter, stroke thickness, etc. I hope that gives you an idea of how that works.

Aside from Vincent, I also really like Cloud and Tifa from the FFVII universe. I also really like Freya Crescent and Vivi from FFIX, Cecil and Kain from FFIV, and Lightning from FFXIII.
