Your leather works are just astonishing, and the guitar case is brilliant. How long did that take you?

Thank you very much. The guitar case took by about 70 hours as avery stitching hole was done by hand.

Sorry I took so long to reply. Some of my leatherwork is steampunk? Never even heard of it b4. I must be old!

Nah, there are a lot of us older ones here on dA. And, it was a pleasure to include you in the feature!

I wondered where you find the leather you use. In france it is not easy and all I have comes from my grandmother but soon I'll start to run out.

There are many sources for leather in North America. One of the large ones is Tandy Leather Factory. I noticed it has a store in England that you might be able to contact. [link]
At the very bottom you'll find an E-mail contact for the one there. They should have a catalogue. Good luck and let me know if you'd like more contacts here in North America

You're still alive!!
Me too. Working 7 days a week so haven't had a chance to reply to a lot of things. Hope you are doing well. We still have to work on that challenge of doing something different. Maybe this fall.

Uh, maybe. I haven't done leatherworking in quite a while. Been busy. Moved twice. Started school again. Very small workspace. Would love to start doing it again though. Just haven't had time. Work is more pressing

Hi, I was just looking through your gallery again and noticed that you have a swivel knife in your avatar. I've been given one of these but have no real idea what to do with it and I was wondering if you could possibly give me any tips. If you manage to find the time, I'll apologise in advance if my reply is delayed, but I'm just about to move house in a few days so may not be online for a little while

aberham In reply to Motorbikeman [2008-08-18 02:01:48 +0000 UTC]

Sorry I took so long to reply. There are many books out on how to use this knife. For the basics I'd try this book [link]

There are alot more books that they have on figure carving and pictorial carving that you can check out but that one gives you the basics of how to use it.
Hope this helps. If you need help just ask.

Hey, I've been looking through your gallery and I'm really liking some of your leatherworks - especially the portemanteau, 19th century wallet and the trapper's bag.
I was wondering if you do commissions at all for things like that, and how much they run?

I was also wondering where you source your leather? Are they your own cows, or what? Just curious. Thanks!
