did you drill the gemstone beads yourself?

Unfortunately not. I wish I had the resources to do so- even if I had to borrow equipment from a lapidary club.

You know, depending on the gem it isn't all that hard to drill holes and anchor points. You have do have at least a Dremel and you have to use diamond tips though.

So what's got you down about the bikini top design? I've had great success with the first three I've made and I'm applying to a forth top as we speak.

I've skipped the basic structure of it and keep trying to do fancy tricks with them. I suppose I'm using tips from individuals who are not reliable (especially with the first top), or who don't like to do things traditionally. I tried doing something fancy with this top, and it would work for someone with smaller breasts, but not for me. Not to mention, I have a *very* limited ring supply. I'll probably come back to it and restructure it when I have more freedom with the numbers of rings I can use (since I'm using Euro 6-1 instead of 4-1). Plus, I'm generally not too keen on the regular bikini tops unless there is some interesting design involved. For someone else, sure, but not for me to wear :-P

I see what you mean. And having limited stock to build with sure doesn't help. I have an 8-5 job that I can mostly do on automatic (tech support) so I've got regular income to support my ring habit. *grin* I can also do a long of ring-turning at work because it doesn't require my full attention most of the time. I'm surprised to find quite a few people do 6-1 European style. I much prefer the 4-1 with slightly smaller rings than most people use...that might be why my pieces appear denser and more compact, but I get the additional flexibility bonus.
Where do you get your rings from? I buy exclusively through The Ring Lord. His outfit has EVERYTHING I could possibly want in a ring, and his prices are good.
I've deliberately avoided asking or taking advice. Not because it didn't have value, but because I wanted to pursue my own path with as little outside influence as possible. That's also why my first few bikini tops follow similar forms and style. The latest one, though, is still based on my standard form but with a lot of additions to change its style. I'll put the parts I've already done in my Scraps folder.

Cool, I'll have a look when you get those done. I also buy from TRL It's pretty awesome, though I despise UPS shipping. It can't be helped, since the other shipping methods take so long!
