Please. I only have a trial on it and I have 28 days to use it. I'm worried that this problem won't solve itself and I will never add effects to my picture all because of this blockage of an error. I can't buy photoshop, I don't have the money. Please I would really appreciate help. I ask for help on the chat, but people just said fiddle with the layers palette and that there is nothing to add effects too, but it still didn't help me.

i.imgur.com/cvSAvPb.jpg I am having trouble with photoshop. click the photo it saids active layer is empty, I want to get rid of it. I tried to duplicate a layer and it does add effects but.. whenever i use the lassor tool and draw around the lips and use reduce noise i couldn't see the difference on the lips. Like i couldn't add noise to the lips all because i couldn't add a layer i had to duplicate it. I need this error of active layer is empty removed.
