You deserve it. It's rare to find learning manga artists that actually care to learn about anatomy and such; learn the hard way. So may people think they can skip the hard work and do good art. Even if they do occasionally create a decent piece of work, they usually can't replicate it, and can't freely choose what to draw; they're stuck to poses and such that they've drawn before. Plus they will forever use WAY too much reference.
I can tell by looking at your art, and hearing your descriptions of it that you're trying to learn to be versital. You're not just trying to learn to draw manga, but to understand and know manga on a deeper level. I respect that, because it's such a rare quality in manga artists... heck it's a rare quality in younger artists in general.
I dunno, maybe I'm just looking too deep into this, lol. I just like seeing people try to be original for once
