They don't check as often as you think. They're usually OK is you give credit to the copyrighters at the bottom. Plus once you've enhanced it, it's your creative work.
Although the Orphan Act might get in the way of that. -_-

Er, It's not necessarily your work because you've messed with it, but I have enhanced MxO stuff and I know it can be good practice. They do mention Game policies clearly--I wasn't commenting just to be negative (because I can't stand pessimism anyway!) [link] <---
