anyway. i was thinking about doing more art studies (folds, poses, anatomy, perspective, colour and light, features of the face, etc.). not all day long of course, because it's much more boring than regular drawing, but i was more thinking about an hour warmup by studying the things mentioned above before drawing.

yeah, but the point to that is that i draw what i know. i'll learn about technique, sure, but not about new stuff and correct anatomy or use of colour. it's like drawing a knight without ever really having seen one. you draw what you think he looks like. alright, bad example. but you get it. i'd just draw the same things over and over again and never learning how to use proper anatomy.

i'm not talking about getting better for school, i'm talking about getting better for me. and getting better has nothing to do with age really. can't stand those people who are like 'be easy on me, i'm only seventeen'. with enough practice and talent, you can be almost as great as someone who's idk 40. but i get that because you're younger and have less time because of school, you don't focus on studying things like perspective and anatomy because it's more boring.

I know you're gonna say: I ENJOY EVERYTHING. But seriously, when you're on your own and ave many obligations, you wish to live to have an easy life and live with parents. You don't have to master anything yet. I have to proof myself every week and the pressure is high. My migraines are stressrelated, and I rarely get one on holidays. Usually, before artschool, I got one every 2 years or so. I got like 6 last 2 years. Just saying. Enjoy the free life you now have.

i don't mean it like that. i enjoy drawing, it's relaxing. school is really not so relaxing and i have a lot of homework and expectations. i seriously get sick from school a few times a year because it's too damn much.
i know art school will be a lot heavier, but at least i'll enjoy the major of it.
but why make such a fuss about it. i only said i wanted to practice anatomy and stuff more, not like I NEED TO DRAW THE MONA LISA TOMORROW AND I CAN ONLY DRAW STICK PUPPETS. truth to be told, the mona lisa is overrated. ever been to the louvre? imagine two biiiiiig walls. one wall has the mona lisa on it with a thick glass and hundreds of chinese people. the wall across the hall has the biggest painting on it you'll ever see and imo better than the mona lisa, but seriously nobody i looking at that one.

should i buy and imac or desktop pc?
the imac is really expensive (you can buy a lot better pc with the money), the specs are old and can't be changed and therefore the imac is now overprices, it has a new os to get used to and most of the programmes and games aren't compatible with the imac, unless you run windows on it. but then again, the imac is really good for photoshop and those kind of programmes and i game on the xbox (except for a handful of games). but you get the best monitor in existence.
for around 1000 euros i - or rather my brother - can assemble a pc that will suit my needs for years to come and can run the latest and upcoming games on very high or high. a good gaming computer can also run photoshop right, if the processor is good enough?
an imac will cost around 1500 and has a 7 rating of specs but is really good for photoshop and has the best screen.
a pc will cost me around 1200 and has a 9 rating of specs and hopefully will run photoshop as good as it will run games. i think i'll have to buy a new monitor though, the colours of my current one are getting dim.
what are your thoughts on it? how have you experienced imacs at your school?

yep. en dat mac's overpriced zijn. ik ga definitief nu een pc halen, maar over het algemeen klinkt een mac aantrekkelijk omdat het zo stylisch is. en onderdelen vervangen is precies wat ik nu ga doen met mijn computer, al zijn het zo'n beetje alle onderdelen. mijn computer stamt uit 2006 en dadelijk heb ik zowel een processor als videokaart dat een 10 scoort op de benchmarks en ik dus jaren vooruit kan (:

OH, yes. i desperately want a deviantart account with my own name (as in nina-van-dulmen or something). i get sick of all these stupid usernames. but now there's an option to change your username - if you're a member of course. not sure if i should just buy a membership so i can change it, or create a new account again and losing all my deviations, friends and faves. not that i care much about the faves, but i don't like to keep asking people to watch me again on new accounts. and i just want one account with my own name. i mean, when i finish school and don't have an own site, i'll have to use deviantart as a portfolio i think. don't want to tell them to go to monkeybeans, will i?
