No problem! I'm actually a theatre student who has always had a love of puppetry and actually hopes to get into it. I haven't tried my hand at making any puppets yet (sadly) but I hope to eventually...I've been doing a lot of research which is how I stumbled upon that cutie!

I did! I have to say I squeaked with joy (I always loved the worms on Sesame Street as a kid) I've been sitting and trying to figure out how you made him.

Very simple. 4 inch strip of 1x1 inch blue upholstery foam, shaped with a Dremel. 2 bits of coathanger wire with a 90 degree bend half an inch from the end. Make a mark about an inch from the head and tail end on the bottom of the foam. Slip, wiggle and push the coathanger wire in through the mark so the bent bit points to the nose or tail and is embedded to about the middle of the worm, and the main length comes out of the mark you first made. Now there's a pathway through the foam take the wire out again, coat the bent bit liberally with hot glue and slide back in again. And that's it apart from decoration, which was done with marker pen, old brush bristles and some cheap glass beads

Thanks so much! I can't wait to give a try. So, how did you learn puppet making? Was it just a lot of trial and error or did you study from someone? Forgive me for all the questions. I live in Tennessee so there isn't exactly a lot of puppetry resources around here.

I learned any way and every way I could. The internet, books, short courses, a 2 year Diploma in Professional Puppetry and by just trying things out. I've visited puppet makers in their workshops and asked questions and now I work with a guy who's been in the puppetry and puppet making business nearly 30 years. A lot of it depends on the sort of puppets you want to make.

You've really put a lot of effort and heart into this. I applaud and admire you for it. I suppose most of my interest lies in hand/rod puppets...though I admire all types.

So Muppet-style lip synchs? Get yourself a copy of the ludicrously expensive Foam Book (it's not quite as expensive if you're in the US) and take a look around the Project Puppet website for starters then. And thanks for the fave on the Jareth mask
