Thanks for the fav! Two things that helped me improve (and still help) are using references and value (black and white) painting. I used to hate using refs because I thought that it was cheating, but really it can save a buttload of time instead of trying to imagine how a blue light illuminates a person's face, and value painting is good for focusing on shading without having to worry about colours
