What do you do?

Short answer: I program machines for a living. Software.
Long answer: My tiny little company writes/maintains these hugely complicated software systems for government agencies and pseudo-governmental agencies, such as the EPA, public health, and prisons. Basically, we automate every aspect of their business from payroll to inventory to inmate management to restaurant inspections. All of it.
It's a schizophrenic lifestyle, as I won't know from day to day whether I'm working on rules for performing a swimming pool inspection or how to handle an inmate grievance. It's never boring, and the emergencies are... very stimulating.
