it's lots of fun. wait. do you shoot film or digital? i love my like 10 year old film SLR... it's awesome. and i don't know if you have a macro lens. but if not you should look into one. they're amazing.

I shoot digital, one because I'm a pansy and scared of wasting film, two, because I'm not made of money, and shoot like a maniac (I shot 2000 shots in the first like week of getting my camera) and no, I don't have a macro, because, again, I'm not made of money. though I would really like to get one. I currently use a 50mm telophoto lens and the next lens I'm looking into is a 200mm "L series" lens (which basically means its extremely nice, and expensive $600... ouch, but oh so pretty) after that, I'm going to buy a macro, because I absolutely love them, and had one for my first camera (though it was actually built into the lens itself, it was a point and shoot Fujifilm s5200) Buty yeah.

i shoot film because it's cheap. that doesn't seem to make sense but hear me out. i got my camera for free from my stepdad when he got a Nikon D70. and it came with a fixed 50mm. then i got a 35-80. then an 80-200. then a 2x teleconverter. next a flash. then my macro. and my fisheye hasn't come yet. since my camera's old my most expensive lens was $180 and most are in the $120 range. granted they're not like ridiculously nice but they're good enough for my uses. and film is cheap. i send out/buy film from York Photo. i buy 12 rolls for $14. and each roll ends up being about $3 to develop. and i like film because you have to develop everything. so i get prints of every picture i take. prints and those on computer screens are totally different. and i like having the paper in my hands. but that's just me.

yeah, I know what you mean. But, I do a bit of proffesional work, meaning, the people want to see their photos before they're actually printed or anything... so I work digital for that reason, and because I am also a digital artist, and take my photos apart for various reasons. Not to mention I can just print my photos at any point I want (thanks to my grandmother, who gave my this photo printing printer thingy)
but, I do want to eventually get into film, for various reasons, specifically the authenticity of the photos themselves.
also, I can see you like film, but I would give the suggestion of someday buying a cheep point and shoot and fool around with it, I think you might like the ability to delete the photos you don't need. though I'm not trying to sway you to the "digital side" or anything, it's just experimenting is good.
Oh, and for the computer screens, I know what you mean, the ink comes out different, however, they do make these handy gadgets (about $60 for consumer grade, and anywhere to about $400 for top of the line proffessional stuff *ouch again*) that callibrate the moniter colors so they look the same as the actual inks being used, very useful.
so I suppose that in any medium you use... photography costs money... blah, too bad eh? if only all of it could be done for free... lol.
