The Poisonwood Bible is one of my all-time favorites, but I actually have not read Prodigal Summer It's on my list of books to read, if that helps at all, lol. I am so sorry I can't help!! If I happen by the library in the next couple days I will certainly take a peek, but I don't know if I will. Again, I'm REALLY sorry I couldn't do anything. I'm sure your essay will be quite lovely, though
p.s. I know this doesn't help you much right now (:\), but if you like her books you should DEFINITELY read The Bean Trees. It's probably my favorite book in the entire world. Hope your essay turns out, my dear!

Haha, okay good. I was picturing you living out in the boonies, miles away from civilisation and education...everyone should have a bookstore nearby, hey?
p.s. I love your signature.

I've not had a chance to read "The Bean Trees", but it's on my list.
Don't go out of your way, I can get myself to a bookstore or library, I was just being impatient and wanted the quote NOW, but thanks , you're sweet for offering

Hey, I was reading your profile and noticed you're a Barbara Kingsolver fan. I really enjoyed "The Poisonwood Bible", but I loved loved loved "Prodigal Summer".
So, here's the thing; I'm writing an essay, and I want to include a quote from the book, but I can't remember it exactly, and I don't have my copy of the book, nor am I near a library or bookstore. I'm wondering if you've read it, still have a copy of it, and could maybe send me the quote I was looking for.
It was in a really short chapter from the old man's point of view. He was staring out the window, thinking about his wife who had passed away, and missing her. The quote was in one of the last paragraphs, and the gist of it was about still having the will to live even if one felt empty and couldn't enjoy it anymore. All I can remember of the metaphor included birds singing.
If you could send me the paragraph that had that metaphor in it, I would be SOOOO appreciative!!!
Thanks !!
