Hi! So I've been asked to alter some cards for my brother and I'm confused on something. You extend the art past the borders, yet for tournaments the rules say you have to leave the borders. Do folks who collect altered cards usually prefer borderless or bordered? When you get requests, or when you friend asks for cards, does he/she always ask for borderless?

It really depends on the commission. It also depends on who is judging the tournament. Most people I do commissions for are having borderless cards painted for their cubes or edh decks. If your brother plans on using his cards in a tournament then I would strictly follow the tournament rules for altered cards but if he is just playing locally then you can always call up the local card shop and speak to a mtg judge about what he would allow and wouldn't.
