# About me
I figure that I may as well say a little more here...I started working with metal when I was in Highschool welding and doing some basic forging of weapons out of car parts. I really liked working with different metals and decided that since I always liked funky jewelry I would try my hand at jewelry for college. That is how I ended up doing my BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing at Rhode Island School of Design 2010, also with a concentration in Post-colonial Literature (You know, because that totally makes sense together).. So now I am a silversmith and goldsmith ^.^

Your designs are absolutely amazing - to say nothing of the execution! It'll be an honor to watch your gallery grow!
I noticed your senior project from RISD; that school was my top choice before I switched majors.

RISD was great, I really learned a lot. What major did you switch to?

Ah, I'm now pursuing Hospitality (food service management concentration) at my county community college. I still love making jewelry, but I realized that trying to earn my living at it would quickly result in burnout. So, profitable hobby!

Sounds like fun still. You are right, it is very hard to earn a living at making jewelry. But at least you still get to do it in your spare time!

If you don't mind my asking, what made you decide to pursue jewelry as a major and profession? And do you focus more on creating designs or the making of pieces?

Not at all! I really like working with metal. I started of doing steel welding in highschool making weapons, sculptures, etc. Then I wanted to try my hand at fine metals because I always liked jewelry, and I ended up really loving it. I am still working on making it my profession. I have a job and I make all my jewelry and do shows in my spare time.
Honestly it depends on the piece. Sometimes I will do a sketch and then make it, but most of the time I take a stone and then figure out how I can make metal work with the stone. I do tend to try to give the metal a solid presence because I feel like sometimes the stone ends up being too much the focus of a lot of jewelry.
Hope that makes sense!

The stone being too much the focus... That's an interesting perspective! Ideas... Ideas can be dangerous.
Yes, that made perfect sense! Thank you very much!

Dangerous ideas can sometimes be the most fun.
No problem!
