Because, it's the fastest way to make an idea become something visual.
Something you can see. It's much easier to create a 3D-model or a Logo or whatever when you sketch it quickly. You can easily erase it, totally recreate it, whatever. It's not about the final thing, you will create. It's more about quickly putting ideas to paper, to get them out of your head.
So it's space in there for the next idea.
