Aww, I still check back now and then, darlin'. If I didn't, I would miss Rupe too much. Give her my love.

I am, I am...
Hey, would you feel like doing an art swap thingy at any point? I draw you something, you draw me something, and we both pick subjects. It doesn't have to be superdetailed or involve hours or work or anything. I'd just be really intrigued to see what you came up with. Let me know if you're interested or have the time.

Well, the first word that comes to mind when looking your word is... "monochrome".
The second word would probably be "brilliant", closely followed by "amazing", with "thrilling" and "scary" somewhere in the top 10.
You rock my world.
Speaking of my world, specifically my country, whereabouts in Australia are you?

The words that come to mind when looking at your post are "barefaced flattery". Still, not that I'm complaining.
I live in stunning BrisVegas, home of the bogan, and the state that voted for Pauline Hanson. I try to compensate by living in the hippie socialist bohemian sector.

Very interesting. I'm in Sydney, but will be heading up your way in approximately 3 hours. Destination: Surfers Paradise.
What's worse is, I'm driving. I've had 6 hours sleep in the past 3 days. Driver's fatigue, anyone? It's been nice knowing you.
Catch you on the flipside, eh?

Ahaha, sucks to be you. If I was going to be risking life and limb by driving x number of miles half-dead, I'd make sure it was for something a bit more worthwhile than Surfer's Paradise.

Oh, Surfers isn't that bad. Sure, the surf is rough, the sun is hot, and the women are dull, but, still...

Hey again. You're the Holmes fan! I love your gallery.
Wondering if you ever got around to reading the rest of the Russell novels?

Thoroughly In reply to Lady-Russell-Holmes [2006-02-11 08:51:58 +0000 UTC]
Oh hey, it is you. Yeah, I read all of them, I think... Beekeeper's Apprentice was ace, so I checked out O Jerusalem, which was also ace, and I was all, "Hey, these other books are cool!". But then I read Monstrous Regiment and... gnah! You never told me that they got married. That's so WRONG. Holmes... marriage... no! This is like, self-insertion fan fiction at its worst. Ugh. *shudder*
Still read the rest though. But was hard to still like them, as my enjoyment was spoiled by their... union. I'm glad I didn't know about it when I read OJ.
Plus I found that the overall quality of the series deteriorated after a while. She seems to have a bit of a problem with tying up loose ends.

I'd have a similar belief about the self-insertion, but I've met Laurie King, and she's nothing like Mary. I found the way she handled it fairly believable.

She does a book signing and speech in my town every time a new book comes out. I've been to six, and her lecture on woman writers in mystery a few years back.
