Actually not all bases are traced, some are made by people who didn't trace a picture or screen shot, but some are traced.

people actually take effort into making a bad if it's from a screen shot or art work and not many people are good at digital drawing, I used bases and line arts so I know how it goes, try doing it yourself

Some base makers usually put the link to the original picture and say 'Don't give me credit, because it is not mine' though some don't. I use bases to help improve my computer art skills and have gotten better to the point in hand drawing images from my head. But I wouldn't have been able to if it wasn't for my use of bases. I'm not hating you, but just thought I'd mention this. not all base tracers are bad. some make their own, not traced.

Im not trying to be mean, or bash you, or anything like that, but can i add a reason why bases have a few, very few, good things.
Some people like drawing people and animals, but they have a hard time doing it. Myself for instance. i used to be horrible, and i mean HORRIBLE, at drawing people. Then i learned about bases. I like to think of them a templates. And no one can say that they have never seen a piece of plastic with a picture on it, and some one used it. Even if you've never used one, you can't say you don't know what they are.
Some people can draw faces, just not bodies, and use bases for those. I use them for practice, and sometimes i just upload a piece of crap i had fun messing with. Now, I know some peole lik to be all like, "Hey look at this pic i drew!" and som e people are going to be like that.\
And the "Credit me," is meant as "Hey, if you like this, please link back to this base so others can use it if they want," and most people don't know how to use links, so they don't credit to the original picture.
Just wanted to point out that in your upload that you didn't look at ALL the aspects of a base.

okay. i have nothing really against bases at this point. people can use it to improve themselves and so and so. What i do have a problem with (i dont know if this is still a problem though because i made that post yeaaars ago) is that some base makers, they take FANART, okay?. They take FANART WITHOUT the original artists permission and they TRACE over it and made that into a "base". Then they upload "their" base and tell people that they can use it but to just "credit them". and i had a problem with this because it was misleading people into thinking that this BASE was this uploader's work when in reality they just TRACED it off some other person's work and they didn't even 1. get permission and 2. link back.
Again , i dont really remember all my ideas and pov way back when i uploaded that, but as of right now, this is basically what bothered me. People tracing things, making those into bases, and saying "credit me" when all they did was trace off someone's work and mislead ppl to indirectly edit over the original fanart.

some of them are :/ Some people will take fanart and just trace the people and make that into a base (this is more common in the anime rpc world tho)

I'm already aware that most of my bases are traced. I made those way back when I was into anime and all that and, quite frankly, I know they're not even good bases.
I know you're trying to do good, but I think the page you linked me to comes on a little too strong for younger/newer base-makers who trace their work.
You should definitely tell them the same message, but try to make it sound a little nicer, yes?
And I'm not trying to be "all high and mighty" because I'm older - heck, I don't even know how old you are... I'm just saying that that page might incite argument.

thats true. but i said all those things after being fed up with arguments and people cussing at me so that's where all that anger came from. So thank you for telling me your opinion without raving about it ^^ Part of me wants to delete that because its such a nuisance nowadays since im not really into art anymore, but part of me wants to keep it there just for memories sake.

I do understand your point about bases. Yes, technically they are stolen, but a lot of people credit the original people, and say "If you own the original and don't want it as a base I will gladly take it down blah blah etc." So.. yeah. I used to use bases because I suck shit at anatomy. Still use bases sometimes when I'm bored :I, but it does bother me when people say "OHMYGOD LAWK AT DIS I DREW DIS ITS SO LAWAII DESUUUUUUU!" And just do a shitty job on it. At least some people try. Other do it for fun, or some do it for help. And also not all bases are traced.... and I'm pretty sure you knew that so why the hell did I say it.
