# About me

My Influences:

Sometime during the mid-1990s I discovered Alex Ross while frequenting a local Golden Apple comic store. I was immediately taken by his Superman Forever illustration and right then and there decided that THAT was they WAY I wanted to draw. While researching Ross I discovered many fantastic illustrators. Some include: Andrew Loomis, Haddon Sundblom, Harry Anderson, Coby Whitmore, Al Parker, Jon Whitcomb, Frank Frazetta, J. C. Leyendecker, Drew Struzan, Norman Rockwell, Basil Gogos, Greg Manchess, Ludwig Hohlwein, Everett Raymond Kinstler, Gil Elvgren, Dean Cornwell, Walter Biggs, Bernie Fuchs, Robert Peak, Jim Silke, Hajime Sorayama, Harvey Dunn, and Robert McGinnis just to name a few.

I don’t read much comics but the following artists continue to inspire me: Sergio Toppi, Lucio Alberto Ruiz-Diaz, Sean “Cheeks” Galloway, J. Scott Campbell, Alvin Lee, Ferdinando Tacconi, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Sanjulian, Rockin’ Jellybean, Jim Holdaway, Coop, Ron Embleton, José "Pepe" Gonzalez, Adam Hughes, John Buscema, Phil Noto, Travis Charest, and Robert Valley just to name a few.

I received my most relevant artistic training from Mark Westermoe, Glen Orbik, Rad Sechrist, John Watkiss, Kazu Kibuishi, and Marshall Vandruff.

I really believe your work is sooo incredible..I love the marker/ink meduim, I've been trying to incorporate that meduim in my artwork as well

Markers are GREAT because it's such an untapped area!! I find that when I go bold and use darker values the rendering comes off so much better!!! This guy ([link] ) does pencil work with darker values and you can see how much more rich portraits can really be when you defy logic and go darker!! (Pure) Markers don't really translate well when you go large but with graphite you can really get a lot of great detail like this cool artist ([link] ). Hope these tips help!!

Your work is completely amazing o.o I have never been able to draw people -.- (but I'm taking figure drawing I this next semester) which makes your work so much more amazing to me. God has blessed you with a great talent

Taurine75 In reply to Lupus-Lily [2011-01-09 20:14:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your kind words! I still have SO much to learn. I guess that's what makes art so worthwhile! Keep up the great work and don't let mastery of the figure be your end result. Learn to enjoy the process because with love of the craft comes mastery!
