It's expensive, so if I were you I'd start checking and applying for any scholarships you can. And your portfolio has to show that you have eye for design, that counts more than the piece itself. According to him, it was hard work and very exhausting (also because of a new country and English maybe not being you first language). But definitely worth it, he's trying to see if he can go again.

I think I'm going to try and find a program that focuses on 2D game art in the UK, because it's closer to home. FZD is amazing and breathtakingly good, but it's not everything. Competition is brutal there, they show no mercy. All though it would still be really awesome. I don't know, tough choices.

It is a hard choice, I live in Texas. Not only would it be a huge culture shock but it's half way around the globe. I may end up just applying to design schools that are in the States, and go to a week class there just to see.
