my pleasure, it's a great poem.

i'm slightly stressed because i'm trying to fit too much into way too little time, but i'm coping with it. and you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-02-02 21:53:50 +0000 UTC]

I've been a little bit like driftwood lately, just doing what I need to rather than making any special effort and I haven't really been connecting with things. Though, today, we had a snow day - the most snow in 18 years. I really regressed metally, I felt like a little kid. My sister and I went out, walked around town and in the woody areas and took photos. We had a snowball fight with our cousins and I really relaxed. So all in all, it was a lovely day today (for me anyway - the public service people probably suffered quite a bit). I hope you don't get too stressed out by stuff, do try to give yourself a break when you need it, it'll help you get back to work with a fresher mind hopefully.

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-02-07 10:39:01 +0000 UTC]

ah, that's never a fun state to be in. i tend to have the opposite problem though - i do everything i don't need to and connect with everything too much, so i end up doing too much.

wow, that's pretty awesome. i've never seen snow... way to hot for it here (36 degrees celcius - frightful - i dislike february)

yeah, i really should stop piling things up in the 'must get round to doing' pile . and i must stop living on 6 hours of sleep and coffee, hahaha. then it should all get back to normal.

good to hear that you had a better day

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-02-09 20:06:43 +0000 UTC]

Six hours of sleep. You're lucky, by the time I get to bed it's usually about 2.30 am and then I wake up at 7am. I used to drink a lot of coffee but it just leaves me feeling dry all day so i drink more tea now. We don't actully see much snow in England, the little we had was the most in ages so I'm glad I actually went out and enjoyed it. Don't stress yourself about the procrastination thing - why do today what will be someone else's responsibility tommorow -(lol joking) and normality is an illusion anyway so don't worry, be happy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-02-11 18:03:10 +0000 UTC]

ouch... that's bad. yes, tea is amazing, i love it dearly. coffee is my quick boost and tea is my staple - unfortunately my staple has become a quick boost recently... hmmm

yeah, it would have been a shame to miss the opportunity to throw slush balls at people

ah, that is a beautiful philosophy to live by. the problem is that my boyfriend also lives by it - so we never get anything done.

normality may be an illusion, but it is not one which includes the reading of large calculus textbooks for fun

normality may be an illusion, but it is not one which includes the reading of large calculus textbooks for fun

that's definitely more psychotic than normal.
Throwing slush balls is fun. ^^
BTW I'm not sure I beleive you about not getting anything done since your schedule seems to be pretty full

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-02-12 17:43:18 +0000 UTC]

my schedule is very full - but i'm not getting anything concrete done although i did bunk school today, choosing to write a 93 line computer program instead. i was proud of myself, i've only been programming for two weeks .

yes, my english teacher was horrified by my reading material.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-02-13 16:14:11 +0000 UTC]

lol my English teacher had the same reaction when I told her I was doing a Maths degree ^^. Programming is fun (but only if you know what you're doing) - I've used Java and C++ before, what do you use?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-02-13 17:11:07 +0000 UTC]

hahaha, that's brilliant.

use isn't the right word. i abuse python

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-02-14 16:05:35 +0000 UTC]

Never used (or abused) python before, maybe it's the name but it sounds dangerous lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-02-15 13:25:55 +0000 UTC]

hahaha. it scares me, but it is quite easy to use (not that i've tried any others, lol)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-02-15 15:05:44 +0000 UTC]

I was quite good with Java but I didn't like C++ very much. If I tried any programming now I'd get it all wrong because I've forgotten most of what I learnt.

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-02-16 17:51:01 +0000 UTC]

hahaha, i have a friend who is obsessed with c++. i don't know much about java. hahaha, well i haven't managed to absorb most of what they've tried to teach me.

I love maths puzzles, I can do them for hours ^^

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-01-02 18:22:08 +0000 UTC]

what kind do you like specifically? i have vast access to such things

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-01-02 18:47:18 +0000 UTC]

In a group of cows and chickens, the number of legs is 84 more than twice the number of heads. How many cows were there?

I have a lot of puzzles too lol - I like all sorts; logic puzzles and stuff involving algebra. How about you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-01-03 19:30:43 +0000 UTC]

ah, those are great. 42? possibly... just a guess, unfortunately there is a somewhat loud movie on and i can't think very clearly so could be wrong...

number theory is a favourite. algebra's cool, although i'm not a fan of finding functions. i like game theory and counting problems (like how many rectangles in a mxn grid). geometry is something i'd rather avoid though, all those lines and random squiggles...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ElairaHunter In reply to Spice-lover [2009-01-03 23:32:54 +0000 UTC]

you got it!
I like those puzzles where you're given a list of clues which you need to organise to solve a problem like who owns the crocodile. I also like algebra puzzles where you form algebraic expressions or simultaneous equations to solve given problems, oh, and I like things like sudoku. ^^ Lots of different types really. You know, geometry puzzles can be fun, especially if you have to construct designs. I guess I like all sorts

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Spice-lover In reply to ElairaHunter [2009-01-04 13:12:08 +0000 UTC]

mostly centering around logic, by the examples given

Let O be the circumcentre of an acute-angled triangle ABC. Lines AO and BC intersect at point D. Let S be a point on line BO such that DS parallel AB, and let lines AS and BC intersect at T. Prove that if O, D, S and T are concyclic, then ABC is an isosceles triangle.

still think geometry puzzles can be fun?
