Okay, the first thing that you have to know is that there are no "majors" really. We all have the same major, which is Bachelor of Fine Arts. However you have an "area of concentration", which is the area of art that you are most interested in, and what you will be spending most of your time in. This may sound weird, and it is, but its actually great, because this means that you are allowed to explore all areas of art! Like even though I am a photo guy, I am taking a painting class, and a sound production class, and a video class. You can't do this anywhere else. And yes, you do have normal classes that are required like art histories, english and liberal arts, etc. They are quite difficult and taken very seriously, and there are such a wide variety of things to take, like you won't take "art history", but you could take a class on comedy films of the 20th century, or I'm in an Anti-Semitism class, etc. So about your question on double majoring, the degree at SAIC is essentially a double major, or even triple major already! And we don't have a concentration for graphic design, because thats geared more towards marketability and technical work, remember SAIC is fine art ONLY. If you want to do something like graphic design, another school would be a better choice, but if you want to make art, then SAIC is the ONLY way to go. Its a hard decision, I know. Keep in mind that SAIC is a conceptual school, and most other art schools are technical, and teach you with marketing in mind, ie, how can we MAKE MONEY, and what is good and bad about your work. For example, if you apply to RISD, which you should, you will be REQUIRED to do a drawing test. This is because they emphasize the technical side, so being able to draw is essential. At SAIC, that doesn't matter, because the IDEAS are more important than the execution.

I really don't know anything about law. I am so the wrong person to ask about this. I'm not...really worried about people jacking my shit, so I haven't given too much thought into it. If you are really worried about, you can always watermark your work. While aesthetically displeasing, it keeps your work safe. By the way, if you plan on applying to SAIC this year, let me know before you submit your portfolio, because I can help you choose the ones that they will most like.

I've seen almost all of his films, he is my favorite director, and I take my films seriously. My other close favorie is INLAND EMPIRE. His films are involving, terrifying, and well made.

Ooh, Inland Empire is one of the few I haven't seen. I agree completely though, Lost Highway is probably the most terrifying movie I've ever seen.
