Howdy-doo! Name's Laura Loo. I'm an eccentric mid-twenties gal from the Bay Area who's got a taste for both the sinister and the sweet. What do I mean by that? Well, if you're looking for an artist to draw your cuddly and cute, that's me. If you're looking for an artist to draw your creepy and cooky (and altogether ooky) that would also be me. Of course I can also draw just about anything in between and even beyond… if that makes sense.
I recently graduated with a BA in Design Studies. I've taken LOTS of art classes throughout my college career and strive to be something of a lifelong learner, so if you have any questions about how I draw and what I know, feel free to ask. And don't forget to drop your own advice too! I hope to get a graphic novel project I've been planning for years off the ground soon along with some other independent comics. I used to be an airbrush graphics designer and someday would like to get back to customizing and creating material with my own shop. This takes funds–and location, location, location–so it may take a while. Apart from that, lots of different projects are likely to be on my plate.
If you look around my gallery, you'll notice a couple of patterns. One is that I draw a lot of animals and creatures. "Critters," as I call them, have always been some of my favorite subjects. My first memory of making art was of painting dinosaurs at my aunt's house as a wee four-year-old. Ahh, good times. The other pattern is that I usually use traditional media. I'm working on getting some more digital media into the mix, but you can expect a lot of traditional textures and faux-collage when I do.

Howdy! I saw you visited my tumblr yesterday.
To tell you the truth, not too hot. I graduated and am having a bit of "what do I do with my life now" depression. I've got a lot of creative ideas, but I don't want to commit to anything I can't finish, which also sucks. Oh, and I have to move out of my mom's by August 1st with or without a job. Frustration.
Hopefully you've been doing better than I have.

I wrote a part 2 to my AitF on ff and am in the process of a second chapter, which I am having REALLY bad writer's block for.
And I'm posting the first part and fan art if ur interested on my LSoH Tumblr (@allthingslsoh). I also wrote a fanfic for "nightmare before Christmas" a while back that u can read up here and on tumblr, since I know u like that too bc I've seen u post fanart of that.
Congrats on ur graduating!! I'm sorry you're struggling with what to do now that schools over. You'll get through it all. I promise. Just believe in yourself.

Howdy, hope you had a good Halloween! Did you end up going to class?

Yes I did… it was a huge mistake. Sorry if I dump all this on you but it was just so bad.
I tried to make a day of it. My major program has a costume contest so I thought I'd compete. However I got the time wrong and ended up being two hours late to be in it. Like I said, it's an hour drive away from home, so even if I went back home, I'd miss out on a lot of the local stuff I wanted to do. I felt so bad for not being able to help my family set up, especially my little sis who got sensory overload and was really upset (told ya she has anxiety).
I have a class on Tuesday with the same professor who I was sure wouldn't take a sick day for an excuse. Guess what? There was a girl in the class who couldn't make it and he totally understood and gave her full credit for getting the midterm done later in the week. He likes to pick on me too, so when I showed up in costume a little late (I was the only one in costume too), he said "and here I was just thanking everyone for not showing up in costume." I figured out it was a joke because he said the next day that he gets tons of trick or treaters too and he actually has to shut his house down because shady creeps started showing up to his house, so even THAT could have been an excuse.
My only saving graces were that I managed to get home around 7:30 and give out candy and that people loved my skeleton mermaid costume, but it was really painful all the same. Last Halloween was awful because I was working closing and I had a really sweaty Freddy Fazbear suit on, so I was hoping this Halloween would be better. Oh well.
