Well, in my case, I ignore the fact that my heart is broken because I want to believe that next time, I will find someone who cares as much for my happiness as I do for hers. More often than not, I'm the one being asked to make all the concessions and there's no reciprocation, but I go down with the ship anyway because I've built up an idealized vision of the person... which all comes crashing down when people realize I'm too "serious" for them.
