the hair is really hard to do, i've try really hard to make beautiful hair.. I don't think i'm really Ok with them now but, i can say to you some few littles tips
don't think to make "the hair" think one each hair
don't beggin with the side of the paper, beggin with the center of the image, to go to the side of the paper (i dont know if you understand what i mean)
do one hair at once
yay.. it can be very long to do... be patient

Hi ! I decided to visit your site since you had posted asking some advice on making pictures look more realistic.. I've got ALOT of experience in that and I'd love to offer any help I can to my fellow artists..

I looked into your Gallery works and I find you to be a really talented person with exceptional potential .. I especially admire that you were smart enuff to be on deviant art and that you can use this wonderful place as a resource for further growth .. I know I sure am !

Ok well my first quickest advice in making a drawing look more realistic is to give your pieces more contrast before you put in the focus on the more subtle shades of gray. when you pick say a portrait to draw, after you've put down your outlines draw very lightly the shapes of where your deepest darkest shadows will be and simply put an "X" mark to remind you that those are the places where the Darkest shades will be.

then making sure that most of your outlines are light ( makes it easy to blend or erase ) , do what you do naturally to draw then step back .. look at your drawing and start laying down the DARKEST shadows . this should help you make certain that there is contrast to your picture and give it the sense of depth,substance and lighting..

After that gently blend the darkest grays to the rest fo the grays with a Q-Tip since its smoother and divides the shading in a more easily adjustable way..

After this I can suggest other tricks like making hair look real and creating light .. or even reflections.. check out my gallery if ya wish I have lots of samples of Photo-realistic art as well as favorites of other Amazing artists !
