Putting it simply: I'm a Communist, Politics and Philosophy student. I hae a great interest in these topics as well as political theory, psychology, physics. And I'm a Sci-fi nerkle (somehow I feel that is important).You wanna chat, then talk away:

I'm generally quite open minded and as such open to new ideas- but just because I may debate with you on opposing views doesn't mean I belong to those views. I think the only thing I'm really close minded on is defining the term 'science', because lets face it- Biology isn't a real science (be honest with yourself and you know it's true).

Just a friendly warning: n0-username (below) has been stalking rape victims on DA, claiming they're liars and demanding video "proof" of their rape.Β They harassed one user over the last 2 months in different places including that group they just invited you to.

Money is just a simpler way of allowing the trade of the things we need (water, shelter, etc.). It's not really required, and if we did get rid of it we'd just be left with a less efficient way of trading the things we need. It also wouldn't stop people from hoarding it; they could just as easily hoard land, which is what allows us to grow food and what we build shelter upon. I don't see any point to removing money.

We cannot simply get rid of money, it is too far rooted into society now, it governs our very lives these days through ways we don't even control- stock markets etc.
It isn't required (in the grand scheme of things) but people have made it to be required, riots are occuring due to lack of it, the world's poverty are only getting worse because of it- our very morals are degrading as humans because for it.

Such things are only the result of money representing the actual requirements of life. Without money the same things would occur but due to other things. Riots would occur over a lack of food or shelter or other requirement of life, and poverty would still be just as bad. Money is only a symbol of what is worthwhile to humans, and the problems would still exist even without a convenient symbol.

The problem would likely still exist correct, but exists now at a greater scale due to it's presence.

Hm. Perhaps it would. The way money is makes hoarding it and controlling it in abusive ways (e.g. betting on companies to fail) easier. Still, its benefits may outweigh its downsides. Without money trade would be much more difficult and would make most good modern business practices nearly impossible. Salaried wages would be much harder. As would taxes, which is a good or a bad thing depending on who you ask.

You are very much correct, I don't propose the abolishment of money for these reasons, merely the abloishment of its current importance.

Ahh. There you do have a point. I'd also like to see more regulations on its use, particularly, as I stated before, betting on companies to fail and the like. I forget what it's called, but it basically caused our most recent economic troubles. Do you mean to decrease its importance on a social level (money being less important as a desire), you mean, or even on an economic level (i.e. money not being as important to have in order to be successful)?

But to counter your next question, I truely have no real idea how. That is one of my reasons to taking up studies in Economics.
