hey you.Β
I know you're going through some stuff and I'm sorry I'm still (always) not able to be here really, but I DID just want to tell you that you absolutely MUST see Moana as soon as you possibly can, I thought of you so much during it and it was so excellent. <3
I really hope things look up for you. <3

Hi.
I really, REALLY look forward to seeing it, even more so after this sweet little message from you! <3
Unfortunately it won't be out in cinemas over here until february(!), so it's still quite a wait! Oh well, at least I'll have Fantastic beasts and Rogue one until then!
Thank you, dear, and I really hope the same for you! Take care

Oh no, not until FEBRUARY? I was sure you'd get it before that, that's so far away. Sorry I taunted you with it then. ><
But Fantastic Beasts was quite good! Certainly not perfect, but I enjoyed it much more than I expected to. I won't see Rogue One 'til Christmas Day though.Β

I know, right?! It's ridiculous.
But yeah, that's just life. Still, I guess it's good in a way, because money is pretty tight around now, with the holidays and all. Plus, February is the most dreary time of the year over here in Sweden, so it's the perfect time for a lovely and colourful movie! <3

I wish you the same!
My Halloween hasn't been the best (in large part because of those things I told you about earlier, things aren't really getting any better on those fronts), but I'm doing ok. Hope you're having a much more fabulous day than I!

Oh my gosh, I know I've been useless at communicating but oh, I saw The Secret of Roan Inish last night, finally, and I just wanted to tell you how much I loved it.... It was so perfectly Irish, and the way they talked about the sea was just... just perfect.Β

I'm glad to hear that! It's been ages since I saw it, I really need to watch it again. I just remember it as such a pleasant movie <3
I really wish I could find a copy of the book it's based on, Secret of the Ron Mor Skerry, but it seems to be absolutely impossible unless you want to spend a smaller fortune on it x_x
Oh, btw, I can't believe I forgot to thank you so much for the lovely holiday card! I've always really loved that card design, so I was super thrilled to see it!
I miss talking to you, so I hope we can both function a bit better soon. Take care, dear

I just watched Ondine today as well! Or possibly yesterday. I've been stuck inside sick for a couple days so they've all kind of blurred together. It was also really lovely, though not quite the same as Roan Inish. Guess I'm just a sucker for movies NOT copping out on the 'oh it's not REALLY magic' ending. Speaking of which, what was the name of that one with the lighthouse that you recommended to me before?Β
And JEEZ, I did look up the price of that book... that's insane. I couldn't even find it in my library system (although they had several other books by the same author... so close).Β
Oh I'm so glad it arrived safely and that you liked it. <3 I couldn't resist them this year, that's just my favorite holiday design ever. Hope things are... functional over there for you, I miss you too. <3

Seolhe In reply to SycamoreSea [2016-03-06 18:20:34 +0000 UTC]
It's the exact same problem I had with it. There are cases when a rational, non-supernatural explanation can be used well, but it has to add something instead of just going "haha, of course it isn't magic, wouldn't that be ridiculous?! Here, have this boring mundane shit instead!". I think one of the few movies I can think of where that kind of element has worked really well, and even then it wasn't going "look, no magic/ghosts/supernatural whatever!", just giving a rational explanation to *some* of the things that happened earlier in the movies and thus making the twist that much stronger, and that's The Orphanage. I know I've praised The Orphanage before, but man, the ending to that movie is still absolutely gut-wrenching, and the atmosphere is so tense that you sit on needles all the way through, even when scary things aren't happening!
Oh, right. That's Half light. I don't remember all that much about it now, aside from the lighthouse, ghosts and lovely Scottish accents (did I ever mention I loooove Scottish accents? XD). I don't know if you'd like it, I seem to remember you're not a big fan of horror movies, but if I remember correctly it was a pretty good watch.

I definitely don't mind a story having a non-magical explanation, it's just stupid when they tease you the whole time (even when it's obvious they're teasing you so blatantly that it WON'T be magical at the end), and then they think up the MOST OBSCURE reason that could explain it... but at least it's not magic!! Haha no. |: Especially since in Ondine the 'plot twist' didn't ever even explain half the things they'd used to support the selkie theory (like all the fish being lured in by her song). I do still definitely want to watch The Orphanage someday! Oh and I did see Half Light that one time, I enjoyed it right up until the Non Magical Plot Twist again. xD I just couldn't remember its title.Β
