Thanks for faving "You are beautiful..." Seldavia. I feel I may have made a libelous accusation against this poor bird - it's really scratching its head and not looking at its reflection at all but that would just spoil the fun Β Β

If the bird is smarter than we think it is, perhaps it is using its reflection to find the place that needs scratching.
Crows can do this - recognize their reflection in a mirror. I don't think anyone has tried determining this with seagulls yet.
