Thanks for faving "You are beautiful..." Seldavia. I feel I may have made a libelous accusation against this poor bird - it's really scratching its head and not looking at its reflection at all but that would just spoil the fun Laughing

If the bird is smarter than we think it is, perhaps it is using its reflection to find the place that needs scratching.
Crows can do this - recognize their reflection in a mirror. I don't think anyone has tried determining this with seagulls yet.
