... I'm not actually using Google Analytics, but just out of curiosity - you are aware that dA in its entirety uses google analytics which pinpoints and provides the same data the profile version would for every single part of the site, right? This isn't going to do much to save your anonymity.

In part, yes, I know they have been using it for some time. I have dropped a couple of noted to dA techs letting them know that I've had issues logging in to dA where it locks up not only my browser, but my computer as well. The response has been more or less; We don't run anything that causes harm to your computer, it must be software from another website you have open that is causing these problems. I take great pains not to run more than one browser, nor have more than one website open at once, and the program on my browser that has been loading while signing in has been "google analytics."

I know, I have been thinking of either A) removing watching everyone premium and non-premium alike, although that makes me think I should just resort to B) close my dA account. If dA is trying to drive people away, from my point of view, they are taking the correct direction.

It's possible, but not that I'm aware of. Most of the time I avoid the comment sections on dA because people here dislike alternative opinions in the worst way  

I'm not really on any alternative art sites either, so I'm not sure what it could be.

Likewise. I usually don't get into the discussions by nature, though I do when bored. Then get a taste and vow not to do that ever again. Did I forget to mention my memory is slipping in my old age?

I'm not part of another art website (there are others??) so that wouldn't be it.

If we have bumped into each other before, it was likely only once. It's just I normally instinctively look at a person's home page to put a face to their words, so to speak. Even if it's just their art work. Though the stylized "S" which is your avatar is distinctive and since I love fonts, that would impress more, and it doesn't. The image that really rings a bell is your "studying" piece which you only uploaded back in November. So it would have been in the last two months... Mayhaps I just came across your piece once and liked it, but without anything to say I surfed on...
Meh.
I'll probably remember in my sleep one night. That's when I do some of my best thinking.

Although reading further down the line... Not impressed with your latter comment either. :/ People need to keep cooler heads. Comment threads are not time limited, and flying off the handle regardless of the prior responses you've gotten never really helps anyone.

I may have used the word 'fuck' in my last comment but I don't think it was nearly as hostile as the way he addressed me. Also for the record, he and I were fairly well-aquainted before this exchange, (on friendly terms). I likely would have been more formal about it if we were strangers.

Your comments on the journal if I recall/interpreted it correctly was that attacking/trolling someone for not providing a source is rude, and I agree with you basically.

My only point I was trying to get across was that in his journal, he said/implied I accused him of being a compulsive liar, and that I 'trolled him hardcore' for not remembering the source. The truth is that I never said he was lying, nor was I trying to troll him, nor did I attack him for not remembering the source. HE attacked ME for asking for the source. You said 'just asking' doesn't hurt and as a matter of fact, it did apparently. IF I attacked him it all, it was for cussing me out when I asked him a question.

If he'd actually said 'I don't remember the source', I probably wouldn't have gotten angry at all, though I probably wouldn't have believed him off hand. But he didn't say that. He told me to 'fuck off and leave him alone' and said I had to research it myself and if I couldn't find whatever passage he was referring to, I didn't look hard enough. In a situation where that passage may not exist, why is the burden of proof for his statement on ME?

Also I don't know what 'pics or it didn't happen' guy you're referring to. The person who literally said 'pics or it didn't happen' was TOM PRESTON in response to someone asking him what page number he got the quote from because he wanted to find it in HIS OWN copy of the book and Preston refused to believe he owned the book without 'pictures' even though that wasn't the point.

Alright, a bit defensive there. I'm not going to take a side here, but I think you both overreacted to comments that were hardly as aggressive a you seem to believe. If I've learned anything about online communication in the past fifteen years it's that half of the things that seem like insults on first read aren't - lacking tone and appropriate smilies, we all misunderstand what people mean time to time. X_x

I'm not trying to be defensive, I was just addressing your statements, so I'm sorry if it comes off that way to you. It's likely because of what you just said about online communication and lacking tone and emotes and whatnot.

What I'm saying has nothing to do with who's wrong or right, or who's overreacting or not. I'm only trying to get across one point here; Tom Preston said I was 'trolling him hardcore' and I in fact, was not. That is the only thing I'm trying to get across to people. Just because someone disagrees with me or even just because someone gets a bit hostile with me doesn't mean they're 'trolling' me, and I won't have people think Tom was being 'trolled' when that wasn't what happened. Can you at least accept that?

You're a bit direct, but I wouldn't call it an attack - if I had to guess it looks like he let his anger out on ya after dealing with something else. :/ Not great, but I see both sides in this exchange. I stand by my comments on the journal, but you're closer to the polite asking person than the LOLPICSORITDIDN'THAPPEN guy.
