You seem like such a cool person! I was just entranced by your debates on all of these feminism stamps. Really, the boys in my Race Gender Culture class just sit there and take all of the inequality women have faced and I kind of feel bad for them since they're basically being yelled at by the films for 45 minutes every school day, but you're taking the knowledge and applying it and supporting what those films and websites are advocating.
You're so awesome!

Umm... thank you?
(It'd be kind of.. massively disrespectful & stupid of me to ignore that the majority of my friends are female & suffer uncalled-for bullshit on pretty much a daily basis.)
But I'm not so certain I should be considered "awesome" solely for being a decent human being.
(Or, well, trying to be.)
But yeah, with any luck the next generation takes fewer of the lessons previous ones got & more of the "Hey, people are people and people are equal and that's about it & stop being dicks to each other based on superficial or otherwise-irrelevant traits" kinda thing.
[Bit late replying because I haven't used dA in ages.]

Thank you?
(I'm always a bit confused when I receive random approval for doing things I think people should do anyway, but yes, thank you.)

Haha, I understand. It's just that not many people can handle situations like this. I've had my own share of disputes with antifeminists, and I wish I could have made my points as well as you did.

ScotsDragon In reply to annoyedslendermanfan [2013-07-09 21:43:58 +0000 UTC]
I'm sure others could have said it better.
(I can be prone to being overly aggressive in my arguments and not properly engaging the other/s involved.)
It's also a struggle because the only explanation for being anti-feminist that I see is (A) Overwhelming ignorance as to what that entails, or (B) Deliberate opposition to equality.
So I have to try hard to not call the other party idiots or assholes, or both.
Ultimately it boils down to trying to remember that other people don't have the same perspective or understanding, & have probably been misinformed or have misinterpreted something somewhere.
So, y'know, case of exercising logical argument backed up with as much factual evidence as possible in combination with trying to empathise & frame it in such a way that the intended recipient can actually see the point/s.
As previously mentioned, I don't always succeed.. but even one person having learned something is a victory.

Well, you certainly have more patience than I do when calling out on BS.
I know what you mean. It seems to me that the majority of antifeminists are less concerned with actually helping the gender they claim feminism ignores, and more concerned with trivializing the problems that mostly women go through (by denying unreported rape statistics, and by trying to relax rape laws). It's also odd how they'll go on about how bigoted and violent feminists are, but the majority of antifeminists I've come across are a few of the most unpleasant, hateful people I've ever met.
I guess those points you've listed are plausible.

ScotsDragon In reply to semiconductress [2013-07-06 13:16:02 +0000 UTC]
May I ask which thread?
I.. may have gotten curious & searched "feminism" just to see what the level of misogyny was like on dA <.<
(And obviously it tends to go hand-in-hand with discrimination towards trans* folk & the rest of the LGBTQ)
Thank you though
I do try to address certain issues when I come across them.

Wow you really made somebody practically quit DA.
That's really.. pathetic, regardless of what they posted.

ScotsDragon In reply to Leondrore [2013-06-30 14:49:58 +0000 UTC]
If I remember rightly, they quit because they were posting pornographic imagery and/or work that did not belong to them.
So no, I didn't make them quit.
They violated the rules & had their uploads removed before deciding it was all my fault they'd been an idiot.

i have deleted my collection in which you have commented strongly on. thanks for setting it straight for me, but i still think you should seriously go fuck yourself. i'm sorry for the foul language, but that is how i truly feel about you and your pathetic attitude for not understanding a really painful and suffering fellow such as myself. report me if you may, block me if you may, it doesn't matter at all for me. this life is already painful and worthless with people who refuses to understand.

Heh, yes that's my natural hair.
I like having long hair.
Hadn't straightened it for YEARS before those photos.
It's quite different between natural & straightened, but I can't say I dislike it.
Most of my writings seem to focus rather much on hopeless romance, I think <.<
Or sometimes murderous/misanthropic notions.
I particularly enjoy analogies and subtle references.
(I keep hoping someone will stumble across the more heavily-laced ones and comment on them, but no such luck )
Thank you though

Generally, long hair is more attractive than short, though I know some don't/wouldn't suit long hair.
I don't think the effect is limited based on sex, but it's definitely rarer to see a guy growing their hair long.
Hah. Some day..

I mostly use the chat when as a way to find interesting people & possibly new art & throw llamas at the ones I like
I think I left just as abruptly. I mean, I said bye, but then I procrastinated.

I've always been curious about thanking for faves..
Isn't the fave itself a thanks for the artwork?
So... it's thanking someone for being thankful?
... huh. Look at it that way, it's kind of showing the pleasant side of humanity.
(Even if some do it self-servingly as a way to encourage a 'nice' persona)
[There's that good ol' cynicism!]
I ramble.
But yeah, you're more than welcome to be appreciated for the work you've done
