Another reason why Canada had good relations with the natives was that they had a low population density relative to the settled tribes neighbouring the 13 colonies. This was because they were mostly semi-nomadic, decimated by disease (like they were everywhere) and evicted by the Iroquois (southern Ontario was basically empty by the time American loyalists moved there). That, coupled with a smaller colonial population meant that the natives and Canadians didn't get in each other's way.

So the reason they got on well was because there weren't many of them? That's certainly a big difference from the English colonists after a time. xD How on earth did they survive, though, if there were so few of them? It sounds like, if they were so sick and moved around like that, they wouldn't have lasted long. Did they get help from natives?
