You make me see this:
A well aged forest, with moss covered boulders and tall, knowing trees. Along some of their branches loop vines which are decorated by tiny white flowers and curling tails of the most vibrant green. The contrast is sharp, as the trunks are a moist, red tinted brown. No one may climb them to reach the vines, because the lowest branch leans out fifteen feet above the dark ground. Only birds of song reside there. And very fat, content tree rats.
Along the base of one boulder slowly ambles a stream of sorts, its width sharing the length of my pinky. It's cut well into the earth, however, and guards with its mobile form many tiny, glistening pebbles. Through the thick canopy there reach beams of pale gold. It is the most alive yet serene part of the day.
When one follows the tiny stream, they will inevitably find that it grows somewhat wider, and swifter, as each step is taken. Eventually they will be met with a short drop, a mere one and a half feet. Looking down this small immitation of a cliff, they can watch was the water placidly trickles against the back of a particularly stubborn looking rock hiding beneath the outcrop, and meets the pool beneath. In this shallow pool, the bottom seductively shifting with shadow, stones radiating a soft amber light against the more rich, brown hues, a fortunate eye will be greeted with a rarity; a short show of nature which both excites and pleases.
On occasion there may be seen the darting of a glossy body. One of the elusive small fish which explore the not so deep depths. Always ready to disturb the surface of the kind waters, with their pleasant little mysteries, and charming offerings-however subtle and fleeting-are the aptly named water-bugs. Or skeeters, I think. Or at least that's what I've always called them. Running across the liquid cap, warping whatever image of fish or frog which may have been detected, they go about their business of being twitchy, fast, and difficult as all hell to catch.
Wow. That, if anything, creeped you out. Ehe. Sorry 'bout that. I was moved by your lovely comment. It made me very happy. In any case, I'm tired, and struggling with coherent thought. Ayyaaa.
