May I just say, your whimsical lines are...just that! Whimsical and entertaining! Especially the one referring to ketchup and crunchy goodness. Every time I see that I laugh! I must give you a llama for being so funny

Very adorable budgies. I feel terrible for them, though. So sad that the woman didn't just try to find a good home for them. Putting them in a closet though? That's terrible. D: Good luck with them!

I know. I mean really, what was she afraid of? Just say you can't take care of them anymore or something. Would it not reflect better on her to place her unwanted pets in a proper home rather than putting them in storage like an unwanted trinket? Ugh. People disgust me. At least budgies are adaptable and they were together. If it had been a larger, single bird the psychological damage could have been MUCH, much worse.
I was able to put my hand in the cage yesterday without any major drama... usually they get scared and try to fly away, but they just sat fairly calmly on their perch. So hopefully I'll be able to get them to take food from my hands soon.

I can definitely sympathize on that note. Smaller birds are easier, I'll agree. We actually had a rescue maximillion's pionus who would only be held by males, and didn't like it when my mother and I ventured near his cage. But, with work and patience, that bird wouldn't get enough of us. He'd crawl from his cage, waddle across the floor and climb up your leg if you're at the couch or computer desk, and up to your shoulder for attention. It was adorable.
Well, that's good enough. Sydney, the gray, used to chew her feathers, poor dear, but she hasn't since she's been here. Fritz used to bite at my hand whenever I held him, but he doesn't nip anymore. Which is a good thing. Like you said before, baby steps. :3

Aw, how adorable! I'm thinking about getting a larger bird when I've finished university (which gives me a few years to research, decide and get settled before committing) and I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to a Pionus, an Eclectus or a Senegal. In the long run, an Eclectus and a Vasa parrot are my dream birds, but we'll see how it works out.
Aw, that's great that they're beginning to adjust to a more loving home. What cuties.
