It had me laughing pretty damn hard.

Reminds me of the crap I've had to sift through to find a good one.
It's just so true. . .

and unfortunately... there just aren't any good ones. *has tried.. and given up*
I'm better off sticking to Transformer fics. Not updated often, but there's more good ones there than in Sonic. T_T

I'd find a good one every now and again, but it always ended up being discontinued. I've tried to write my own to compensate.
Unfortunately, I'm just as bad.
And my other fandom fics, Yu-Gi-Oh, has it even worse. Unless you're looking for yaoi. Yu-Gi-Oh fanfiction searches are a yaoi lover's paradise.

Mmm.... yaoi.....
*already integrated self into several of the shipping fandoms for that series*
I know... it's bad of me... but I so love it.

Hey, whatever floats your boat!
Just because I'm not 100% behind it doesn't mean it's BAD. . .
It just makes it a little frustrating when I'm trying to find something not yaoi and EVERYTHING seems to be JoeySeto, or YamiYugi, or RyouBakura, or Yugi/YamiSeto, and yadda yadda and so forth.
If there's a pairing between any two Yu-Gi-Oh males that I haven't listed, there's a cult following for it. GUARANTEED.

From what I remember... there's over 500 or so different yaoi pairs for that series...
Yaoi calls to me. No matter the series, I just can't ignore it.

See? You think it, it exists. And has a cult following.
I've never really felt a strong pull to yaoi. But I have to CanonOC pairings.
Except I'm picky.
Which usually means I leave a reading session frustrated and dissatisfied.
<.<
Why, oh why, can't more people use spellcheck? Indent? Check grammar? Write with an inkling of creativity?
*lament*

I've built a general dislike towards fan-OC's, unless their main purpose is to die or cause humorous drama. Too much Mary-Sue/Gary-Stew to be found, and not enough GOOD WRITING.
Woe to us, who desire a good fic that cannot be found. Only good ones I can really think of are the two comedy fics for G1 Transformers I found. One in which the Lambo Twins re-enact the entire Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie, and the other where they get punished with a football game against the Dinobots. Hilarious wonderfulness. That's the kind of writing people need to aspire to.

I love a good OC. Emphasis on GOOD.
Most people don't put in the extra effort to make an OC realistic or a budding relationship between a character with an already-established personality believable. They choose the easy route, which is "OMG, I totally, like, love you even though we've never met and don't know anything about each other. Look, I can sing and dance and draw pretty pictures and I'm beautiful and innocent and can do everything just perfect I'm perfect OHMAHGAWD."
And then we have the monstrosity of the Sue.
I found one for Inuyasha. Only a tiche of teeny tiny minor OOC-ness on Sesshomaru, and a well-developed OC, with a pretty well-thought story line. However, the story was never finished. The other problem with good fanfictions. They don't exist, or get dumped midway through.
For the most part, fanfictions make me frustrated enough to make me want to write my own. But I'm very lazy, and the moment my nagging team goes away (assuming I even HAVE one for a particular story), I just get too lazy to even start, or quit because I get demotivated too easily when I don't get my required dosage of "Yay that was good! Go you! You're awesome! NEXT PART NOW. YOU HAVE 2 DAYS GO."

In short: these people write like it's Twilight. Which equals bad.
While I understand Marik and his effeminate fury, the last thing we need is for him to sparkle.
And I understand what you mean about fic writing. I just don't do it, cause I either get lazy, or have no will.

These people write like it's Twilight because they don't know how to read anything better, so they think Twilight is the best series there is, and then they aspire to write like Stephanie Meyer! Out of all of her books, I only enjoyed Host. And that was an okay read, something to pick up if you want to kill some time. Not something you read obsessively over and over again because it's so good (Sunshine, I love you! )
We don't need ANYONE to sparkle. LEAST of all something that is supposed to be dangerous. Or male. As the equations show:
Sparkle + male = gay.
Sparkle + dangerous creature = gay.
Sparkle + dangerous creature + male = uber gay.
I get like that for anything. Sucks, don't it?
And I get so many good ideas, too. . .

I propose a burning. Burn everything she has, and ever will write.
Nothing wrong with gay, as I am quite partial to yaoi, which as we know, is 'gay'. But what you have described is what I like to call "Meyer's Gay", which is bad. Very, very, very bad. Like... burn it with lemons, bad.

She must be burned at the stake, like the witch she is.
With her writings as kindling.
No, nothing is wrong with gay. But, those equations were thought up initially by a once-friend of mine who is gay. He didn't mind using the word like that, as long as it wasn't directed at a real person.
Meyer's gay is just the kind of gay that makes you wanna pull an Oedipus.

What, a sleep with your own mother Oedipus, or gouge out your eyes Oedipus? Cause there's plenty of painful and wrong things that man did, and I prefer pulling the gouge out my eyes part as opposed to the others...

More or less, kids start to think that vampires actually DO act like that and sparkle and whatnot.
That's a pretty bad thing in itself!

I understand the dastardly handsome vampire. I even understand the brooding ones (Anne Rice, Interview with the Vampire+The Vampire Lestat+Queen of the Damned = Win! The other ones, they never held me. You would probably like them. A lot of gay couples. Gay couples everywhere.), but the sparkly ones are going wayyyyy too far.
Also, I think that animal blood is a weak-ass cop out. At the very least, they should be drinking human blood without draining the person.

SaaKawa In reply to Tristeza565 [2011-07-31 06:18:10 +0000 UTC]
In my opinion, vampires need to handsome and a bit broody. And a bit on the homo side. That makes a very good vampire. Depth to the character. Sparkling isn't depth. It's a drug induced stupor or the criminally insane kind.
Animal blood needs to be a last resort. Like... you've killed all the humans in the area, and the cows are a temporary diet until you find more. But to make you're exclusive? Might as well go vegan.

Vampires are SEXY. That is the MAIN PART of what they are! How else are you supposed to lure in your prey?
Broody helps to add to the sexy, in my opinion.
And animal blood, I would think, would be like a tofu-soy-no-glucose diet for us. In other words, MISERABLE.

Unless you go almost/totally white-haired.
WAY off to that side of the spectrum seems to be weirdly intriguing to me, too.
