Oh no, male wolves would play a part in raising pups just as much as the female (as long as he was the alpha). If a pup is born unhealthy they will leave the offspring to die while keeping the healthy pups. That is very common amongst animal species. Especially pigs. Pigs will toss out weak or unhealthy babies. The only time a male animal will kill a females offspring is if he is the new dominate male and wants to create his own line of offspring.
Cats are a bit of an exception. Tomcats will kill off a queen's litter for the sole purpose of mating her in hopes she will have his kittens. Hence why queens will go off to have their kittens.
I may be wrong in some parts though.
And generally for RPing as females, it's usually up to the female since she's the one that raises the litters and it's just a fling for the males. It's just a rule I adopted from others as I RPed. Force-mating isn't all that common these days during RP's so it's just a thing I point out in case they decide that's where they want to RP to go.
