I guess my advice would be to look up some tutorials on animating, depending on what program you use, whether it is photoshop, flash, tv paint or even after effects. I personally prefer photoshop as I have been using this software for almost 3 years now and so far it has not disappointed me, but it will take time to adjust to how the timeline works in photoshop. Once you get the hang of it it is really nice to use for animation.

So yeah look up tutorials either on youtube or google and start from there : )
