# About me
I'm a writer, a translator, a book worm, and a basketball fan. I have bachelor's degrees in English and East Asian studies and a master's degree in Creative Writing, which basically means I'm so nerdy that others nerds shove me into lockers. To pay the bills, I work as a technical writer. To not pay the bills, I write young adult novels, watch far too much anime, and cheer very loudly for the Kansas Jayhawks.# Comments

Hi Dee! I try to pop by your livejournal every once and awhile, but was goin' on? Are you still in grad school? More importantly: have you been writing any more awesome stories for me to drool over?

Hey! Long time no chat!
Yes indeed, I'm still in grad school. Should be all finished by spring 2014. I would've finished sooner, but I sort of stumbled into a 9-5 Real Person Job thing, so I had to take fewer classes because of it. So most of my day is spent as a technical writer - putting together user manuals and things. It's boring as hell, to be honest, but they let me work from home and the benefits are good, so I can't really complain.Β And at least I'm not broke anymore! Yay money!
I'm fiddling with a couple of different projects, most notably my thesis (it's a middle-grade/young adult novel, something of a fairy tale). With any luck it will be awesome someday and you'll be able to drool over it properly (lol), but it still needs a lot of work.
Beyond that... just trying to enjoy adulthood, I guess. (It's still weird for me to think of myself as an adult, but I have a 401k now, so I think there's no avoiding it.) Had a great summer, too - went to Lollapalooza, Cancun, and THE San Diego Comic Con. And yes, it was a whirlwind awesome. 8) With any luck autumn will be just as nice.
And that's me in a nutshell, I guess! So what about you? How're things on your end of the Interwebs?

Well, it's good to here you're not broke anymore! I graduate with my bachelor's in journalism in May, but I haven't started applying for jobs yet. I've glanced at a few listings, including technical writing, but it seems all the positions I've stumbled upon require a degree in engineering or aeronautics or some other ridiculous thing. Pretty sure you're living the writer's dream right now (that is, making money writing stuff without living in a box)!
I'm hoping to find a entry-level editing job in publishing and write on the side. I have one novel I'm working on now that I hope to finish for NaNoWriMo, and then a novella I'm planning to submit for publication early next year. But realistically, I think PR or technical writing is where I'm headed, at least until I can save up some cash. After I graduate I'm heading to Book Expo America and maybe even RT Booklovers Convention, so that'll be fun I still have books from the convention two years ago that I haven't read yet, lol. I'm glad to hear you're doing well!

Hi Hi!
since you like Fushigi Yuugi as well, would you like to join?
It's dedicated to my FY crossover fic. So art from FY is allowed there. ^^ You dont have to read the fic to join--it's all in good fun! But if you dont want to, that's cool as well

No problem! (This is Dee, by the way. I have no idea why I hadn't "watched" you before now. Pure laziness, maybe?)

I knew I'd seen you before! I've read your journal so many times especially the transcriptions you've done on Suzaku Ibun! Thank you so much for doing those! They've helped out a bunch!!! Hope you don't mine me watching you!!!

Good to hear from you! I'm glad you're enjoying the translations! (I'm on holiday right now so there haven't been many updates, but I'll try to start posting again later this week.) And it's always great to have another watcher, as long as they mean it in the deviantart way and not the creepy-stalker-in-my-backyard way.

Don't worry I'm not the creepy stalker kind! And yes I love your translations, they're awsome! I'm currently trying to translate the Nuriko path in the game, so if you need help or another translator then I'll be more then happy to help with my (few) japanese skills and guesswork (long live my kanji dictionary).

Oh, cool! It's fun how many people I've met who're playing through the game right now. Are you writing your translations down anywhere? Keep me updated on your progress! I have another friend who's sort of "speed-reading" through every option in the game and letting me know how many choices there are (answer: a lot!). Collaboration is definitely the quickest way to a full translation, so I appreciate any help anyone is willing to give me. ^_^

sure! Um mytranlations are on my comp for now but if you want I can email what I have, since there are some parts I'm not too sure about and a second opinion would be very helpful. My method is taking screenshots of the game which I look over with the help of my kanji dictionary and the Kanji Sonoma program for DS. Ye there are a lo of things and everydy I find something new: for example, yeterday after saving Nuriko in MT Koku and gettin the shinzaho I went back and I got a short scene with him where he actually apologizes to Madoka for almost dying on her (At least I think so!).

Sure send me what you've got: itsthedee@gmail.com
So when you translate a scene, do you romanize it first or do you just write down the English as you translate it? Just curious. It's a little easier for me to double-check another's work if I've got a hold of some version of the original (kanji or romanization).
Ooo, and how *do* you save Nuriko from dying? Can you only do it if he's your "love" option, or is there a particular choice you make? I'm trying to save everyone myself, so I'm excited to hear how this works.

NISHUNE In reply to Rihga [2011-07-23 16:15:42 +0000 UTC]
OK Mine is nihune@gmail.com
I'll send as soon as I can.
When I tranlate I write the word in english though more then once I have to go back and listen to a certain scene if I'm not sure what's being said.
As for saving Nuriko, I think you can only do it if he's the shichisei you're trying to bone. I tried going up to Mt Koku with him when I was playing Tasuki's route and even though Madoka witnessed the whole Ashitare vs Nuriko fight, he still got killed and died in plan ep 33 style after moving the rock. If he is your love option, the scene plays the same except that before he can move the rock Madoka starts bitching at him or something... (God I wanna translate that part, it's interesting). Though I read on Fushigi Yuugi wiki that you can avoid Ashitare supposedly or that there's an option to stop Nuriko from going up Mt.Koku... Though I haven't even seen these... Maybe they were on the special edition of Suzaku Ibun? I'll look into it...

Huh, sounds interesting! Guess I'll have to play around with it and see what happens. I'm almost to that part in my own play-through. Fingers crossed that I can keep him alive!

Hey, no problem! Actually this is Dee, Cara's roommate. I'd just never gotten around to finding you deviantart account before. Great artwork, by the way! It's no wonder Daren wants to do a graphic novel with you so badly. Heck, I might try to hire you for some future projects, if you'd be interested.

Oh hi! I've heard so much about you - Cara is a big fan of yours as I'm sure you know! And, being from LV, I think I even heard Mr. Elliot from LHS tell tales of the legendary "Dee" in the halls of drama dept. last year, haha.
Thanks so much for the compliment ~ the word "hire" is such a great illusion that makes me sound like im way more talented then I am, but I'm always happy to draw pics for friends and friends of the family. Tell Daren I say hi and I'm going to sketch him some concepts up real soon - and sure! just let me know if you have any ideas you want put to the pen and I'd be happy to help. C:
