I wanted to fave the entire collection as a whole, but it doesn't look like there's a way.

The first'll do.

Yes... yes it is. That's why it's linked on my profile page! Well, y'know... it was linked before you just linked it again >.>

Shadowulf1 In reply to RexRanarum [2012-01-17 03:25:34 +0000 UTC]

Oh, yeah! I didn't see the link there!

Well, I had a question.

Do you think I could feature some of your drawings on a wiki (mini-encyclopedia) about mythical creatures? I'd like to show them to others, because they depict the creatures really well!

I'd gladly give you credit for it! Whaddya say?

RexRanarum In reply to Shadowulf1 [2012-01-17 23:43:24 +0000 UTC]

Wow, someone actually asking permission first? Usually I just find my own stuff linked around the 'net when relating to the really obscure stuff (for which, apparently, I provide nearly the only source).

Yeah, sure, go ahead and use 'em.

Thanks a bunch! It is SO hard to find a picture of the serpent the Syren, let alone a well drawn one. I also have the Amphisbaena.

Do you plan on doing some others in that same format? No offense, but the others I saw seemed kinda sketch like, rather than full-out drawings.

I'm only asking because I'm really fond of creatures, and I like to depict them accurately, which I think you did well.

Anywho, thanks again, and I'll link them back when the pages are done.

There are always plans to do more colored pics. It is just a matter of getting around to it. The sketchy stuff fills up my dA since, well, most of my art tends to be sketches.

Also, the colored pics on my site are not really "full-out drawings." They measure only two-inches by two-inches a piece as opposed to an entire sketchbook page. Tiiiiiiiiiny stuff.

Yeah, I noticed their sizes were kinda...diminutive. How long do they typically take you? I only ask because the snakes you made caught my attention.

RexRanarum In reply to Shadowulf1 [2012-01-20 00:34:18 +0000 UTC]

Hard to tell for just a single picture. I usually do them in bulk, and there is a lot of research and old nature magazines to go through to get the various anatomies. ("animal anatomy" is prolly something ya don't wanna Google~!)

Yeah, you're right.

However, many of the creatures I look for online don't have any reference pics for folks to go by.

Like some featured here. [link]

@_@ You were born in the same year I was but on a different day. You were born a different year as my younger brother, but on the exact same day!

That's... so strange. What are the odds???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RexRanarum In reply to Silvertide [2009-01-05 18:42:18 +0000 UTC]

The odds are four. Exactly.

Hey, numbers don't lie; just I do. And not even that well, apparently, since four isn't even valid odds under any discipline~!

I know one guy who was born the same day and year as I, but 'twould be more impressive if he weren't since he's my twin.
Now that'd be strange...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silvertide In reply to RexRanarum [2009-01-06 20:25:37 +0000 UTC]

I met someone who was born the same year and day as me too. Back in elementary school. He was not my twin, not related in anyway. That I would expect to happen every once in a while.

But a B-day combo like yours? I find that MUCH stranger, I would never have thought of the possibility!

Shadow Aura seems interesting - how was in all put together?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RexRanarum In reply to Enker [2007-06-11 17:37:42 +0000 UTC]

Over many, many years.

It is technically made by three people, all brothers. We wanted to make a generic world in which a plethora of games could be played using the varied inhabitants, whose species now number in the hundreds.

But after the original game went no where due to the lack of participation by one, I went ahead and coded a new web version mostly with ~MadGoblin 's monsters.

Enker In reply to RexRanarum [2007-06-11 18:11:41 +0000 UTC]

interesting - how does it work online?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RexRanarum In reply to Enker [2007-06-11 23:48:16 +0000 UTC]

There are two versions out right now. Pretty close, but the new one makes things simpler since, well, people are both lazy and stupid.

It works on a simple ladder. Challenge members of a higher rank than yourself, defeat them, and move up in rank. There is a ladder (supposedly) for each continent in the world, and each rank controls a different terrain on a continent. The terrains are ten-by-ten grids of elements.

During battle, you place your monsters onto the field. Each species has a certain pattern of elements it will use to conquer terrain elements and attack enemy troops that have been placed. Elements have varying effectiveness against one another, so not only could certain species be a bad idea to bring to certain terrains, but enemy placement of monsters could render your troops much less useful.

I like to think of it as chess in which 1) pieces don't start on the board, and 2) instead of moving, they attack everything in their respective pattern.

Then, you add in wacky special abilities, and you get a pretty spiffy strategy game.

Hello,
I recognized that, although I have over 1500 watchers, my deviations are viewed about 500 times.
That means a lot of my watchers aren't looking at my stuff anymore.
If you read this, please reply to it so I know who to remove from my friends/watchlist and who not.
You also count as an "active watcher" if you're just stalking me (only looking, not commenting/faving).
If I don't get a response to this comment within 5 days I'll remove you from my watchlist, knowing either your account is inactive or you just lost interest in me.
Thank you for your time

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RexRanarum In reply to Vampirella87 [2005-11-07 23:01:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, that's wacky. According to my watch list, you are not watching me, and according to your friends list, I am not on it. So, I do not quite know what you are threatening to remove me from. But I'm still scared. oh nos!

Actually, I just have you on my fake watch list. I am not alerted whenever you make a new deviation because I have unchecked every box; I just may want to find you again in the future.

As for the reason you are getting less hits, I'll guess it has something to do with you losing your stock account, seeing as how that is the driving force of popularity 'round these parts.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampirella87 In reply to RexRanarum [2005-11-08 08:10:36 +0000 UTC]

Nah-ah, my Stock isn't related to my main account for -very- long time. Back then I had about 100-150 pv's a day plus around 100 views per deviation. Now, I have about 700-800 pv's a day, sometimes even over 1000, plus 500 views per deviation. And I don't use my Stock acc for over one year now, I think. So it's not, related, I think

I've got a feeling like the server is just screwing up my request. Everyone on my watch list is just Deviations/Scraps; an out-of-place box is quite noticable.
