Turtles are amphibians because they can live on both the land and sea. They usually live in the sea more, but they come to the land to lay eggs. There are many types of turtles, but as far as I know the ones I've seen around here are on land, and if an animal lives on both land and in the sea it's an amphibian.

No, it's a reptile. At least according to last year's Biology book. I think it has something to do with the fact that turtles, while they can live in water, can't breathe underwater like frogs and salamanders.

I never paid attention in my biology class because it was filled with a bunch of freshmen who would never shut up, so we never learned anything. I did score perfect on the standardized test, though. But we barely went over any of the taxonomy stuff until the end of the year...

I need to refresh myself on biology, though. I don't know the difference between reptiles and amphibians. X_X I mean, crocidiles and alligators are reptiles but they can live in the water and they can live on land. X_X But as far as I know "amphi" means "both" or "double."
