You are right about the sky, especially the sun. On the actual flats the sky and mountain line is all hazzed over with purple and the sun is never so red. But I was having trouble getting it how I wanted so I just left it ^.^;

well, it's better to stay than not, i mean, haing out with friends for summer is great, but i get partied-out sometimes, and that's when i feel like i gotta be back at school doing something productive.

lizy, something i found out about maya that i thought i should share with you
when you texturize your trees, i dont know what your instructor tells you, but to get the leaves, it's best to use a plane and slap a 2d texture on it so from afar it looks real.
when you apply a that 2d texture, you better not use projection map, you should always stick to normal, because if you have too much of them going inbetween each other, your maya will crash. (it happened to me many times until i figured to use normal mapping)
i hope you are not having the same problem, just thought id share it with you. normal mapping doesnt use much memory and it's fast, though it should be only used on grass or leaves.
