EU can be repetitive too, especially when you learn that beomg slow and cautious can yield better results. Long War fixes that by forcing you to make more risks and use soldiers more frequently

i remember being slow in ufo does not give you advantage at all, you either have to finish your mission in 5 turn or the aliens will hide and forced you to play hide and seek -_-

but you have more option though, you share experience with your soldier. in ufo i just know their names

Alien Unknown doesn't really have that. Sure, permadeath is a thing but UFO Defense has more ingrained experiences with its OG game mechanics

Yeah, because of that you're not invested as well with your soldiers until they become unstoppable killing machines. in UFO Defense, you NEED every single soldier you can get your hands on, even a rookie.
Basically you need everything and everyone you can get your hands on as the aliens come to rape you
