Aye, it is. Only real complaint I have is toward how they implemented the steering/handling for the carts. In the original, handling and steering gaps between characters felt whole lot wider and different for nearly all the characters. In the new one, handling and steering feels a bit wiggly and same-y on all the characters, regardless of what the stats say, making Pura, the character I loved to play as in the original, a super under-speed and almost completely uncontrollable mess. Couldn't even complete the first 4 races in adventure mode with her due to the changes without redoing each race at least 6 to 7 times. Switched over to Dingodile and Tiny, both of which has "low steering and high speed", and the steering was nearly identical, but their top speed felt way, WAY higher without boost-sliding and went to winning every race in adventure first or second try.Β
Short of that, damn near beaut of a game. The art is fantastic and they really went above and beyond for every character and track to get everything to a shine.Β

Oooh sucks that they retooled it to feel weird... perhaps they thought it would help new players or something.
I'm not too familiar with the cast aside from Crash though

Hope these image links work...
Tiny Β andΒ Dingodile Β are two big guys in the series. Easily double Crash's size, if not more.Β Pura Β on the other hand is a very small character, maybe half Crash's size. Being the smaller, lighter character, Pura was given a lower top speed, but way tighter handling. Tiny & Dingo, due to their larger size, were given greater speed at the cost of not being able to turn anywhere near as well as the lighter characters. At least, that was how it was in the original.Β
Probably was a change they thought would help newer players, or perhaps something they thought needed a bit of adjusting from the original. Game is still fun as can be though, and the shiny coat of hd paint they gave it certainly looks good regardless.

Yeah, Dingodile is one of those odd designs that actually came together fairly well.Β

I'm around, just kinda creeping about here occasionally and trying to limit my fully online time a bit to focus more. Also been kinda busy with a ton of little things for the cosplay project I mentioned in the journal from September. The big thing I've been arguing with is my 3d printer and getting it to work better. Kinda posted that progress on twitter.Β twitter.com/RasielDraconis Didn't post up everything I did on there, but did do a bit on the before, the during, and the after. The last few days have been spent tweaking a few small settings on the slicers for better quality and working in Maya to try to design some quasi animatronic base pieces and solidify the under-structure of how it should go together.
As a side note on that, I think I've got the core for the head together now. Just need to try to print and assemble it and see if my concepts fit together and will work. If it does, a progress update may be up-coming, if it doesn't, well, might still do a progress update anyway if for no other reason then to remove the journal I just realized I kinda forgot about since the start of the last quarter of last year. Meant to do something right after new-years, but work didn't really let off till the end of January and is still kinda riding hard this far past "Peak" but felt like it backed off enough for me to feel like I can do SOMETHING outside of work.

Rasiel-Draconis In reply to Jblask [2018-02-21 00:24:34 +0000 UTC]
It's not really that I'm not active, it's more that I want to do more and found that taking a step away from the sites I normally frequent multiple times a day has really allowed me to focus on what I am working on a good bit more as well as really showing more progress when I do take breaks which feels like better progression instead of just stagnating with really slow looking progress. I dunno if that makes any sense, but since taking a step back like this I actually feel and see progression instead of feeling like I've been stuck spinning my wheels in the same spot for a long while.

Trust me, it will be my pleasure. Thanks to your recent series on how you made Hogger and quite a few of the tutorials you have put online, it's really inspired me to give a shot at some creature cosplay. Can't wait to see what else is coming up this year.

Thanks! It certainly does look like it'll be fun. By the way, as an odd question, where were you able to find the cardboard and scraps for the garbage bag test? I'd like to start by prototyping some larger bits following that path, but I'm kinda at a loss as to where to start source some scraps short of having to just start buying giant boxes at staples or something.Β

Ah, alrighty. We usually clean up and clear out spare boxes unless we have an immediate need for em as they come in our place. I'll take a look around. I know the place I work at has just started ordering a ton of stuff. I'll try asking them if I can save a few of the empty boxes as the orders come in. Hopefully they ordered a few things in giant boxes. Thanks for the assistance though.
