Ha ha, yeah I saw that video. It was pretty awesomeeeee. How did it feel to get peacocked?

Raiphin In reply to Shuffleair [2011-09-10 15:51:22 +0000 UTC]
really really confusing. ^ - ~
I saw them across the street in the park and was all, 'ooh! Tiger and Bunny cosplayers!' and then they came our way and asked to have a picture so I felt all cool, right? And then they said "ready guy?" and SUDDENLY 3I8487687654 WHAT IS HAPPENING?! and then I cracked up. I'm sad I didn't dance back, but I had no damn idea what was happening at that point!

Shuffleair In reply to Raiphin [2011-09-10 19:44:24 +0000 UTC]
oh my goodness that's so funny.
I was in Tiger & Bunny and I saw them and I was like, "omggg Tiger and Bunny people." Then I saw them peacocking someone and my friend was like, "is that something the characters in Tiger & Bunny do?" LOL
Anyway, I got a photo with them, but it was the only one I got. So sad.

Tiger? Maybe. Bunny? Aw hell no. Hilarious though!
Heh, I meant to get my own picture(s) with them but, uh, then I forgot. Also they ran away. Hoping to fix that at Akicon or Sakuracon

Oh. Are you going to those cons as well? I've only been to Kumoricon, so yeah I only know how one con works. Who are you going to cosplay for Sakuracon?
π: 0 β©: 1
Raiphin In reply to Shuffleair [2011-09-12 14:12:24 +0000 UTC]
I'm Seattle based, so Sakuracon was my first con ever--been going 10 yrs now. Went to Akicon last year and while it's very small it's got a really friendly atmosphere, more like Kcon than Scon, definitely. Sakuracon's fun and has good facilities/panels/etc but HUGE so it's a very different feel. You'll see costumes online and be like, 'It's got a 6 foot wingspan! How did I not see that?!' kinda thing.
For Sakuracon I'll be wearing Madoka during the day and for my panel (assuming it gets accepted again)and then Kyubey at night since it's muuuch simpler and more comfortable (and I can eat solid food. O_O) I'm thinking about doing a Steins;Gate crossplay as Okarin while my con buddy does Kurisu but it'll depend on how much confidence I think I can have on manifying my features ^ - ^;; I spent years figuring out how to girlify them so it's kinda weird to think about going the other way.

Wah. I only started going to cons in 08. And my first (and only) con has been Kumoricon. I want to try other cons, but travel and school issues are always a problem for me. I want to go to Akicon though. ;_;
o: Steins; Gate. I believe the last episode airs tomorrow or so. Well, I hope that if I do go to Sakuracon (most likely not) then I can see you. Though I guess with thousands of people at Sakuracon it might be a LOT harder to find certain people than Kumoricon. xD

Hahah, yeah--I went to one out of state con in college but my parents drove me to and from (Akon in Texas, my home state. But wow, what a different con environemtn O_O.)I started going to Kumoricon in...06? I think? After I graduated, anyway. I got a good workplace that's cool about crazy things like cons and costumes, they make me come in during Sakuracon(I work 2 blocks away from the convention center.) and show them what I've been yammering about for months on end. ^ - ^~
Last ep is out, I'ma watch it tomorrow morning while I exercise! Hoping it ends well.
If you make it to Scon look me up on Twitter (same name, Raiphin) and I keep pretty good track of that (give or take an hour *cough*) and I can help you get your bearings. ^ - ^ Working downtown means I know where everything is! And how much it'll cost ya~

Shuffleair In reply to Raiphin [2011-09-15 06:51:28 +0000 UTC]
Ah, I'm so used to con being a yearly thing for me that it would probably feel weird to change it up and go to other cons. Though if I do go to Scon, then I will definitely let you know.
Whoa. I just watched Steins; Gate and I was fairly happy with the ending. I find the show good, but not as awesome as everyone is hammering it to be. Though I do like Makise and Mayuri's tututus.

Raiphin In reply to Shuffleair [2011-09-18 18:33:46 +0000 UTC]
it's definitely weird to change it up, I remember the first time I went to Kcon it was a really weird experience. ^ - ^;; It's fun to see how different cons can be though, and definitely find me if you come up. ^ - ^
There were definitely parts of the show I just kinda took on faith at some point, but I was pleased with the line they drew between making the ending too simple or too complicated...dunno if we needed the last scene though, that seemed way more shoujo manga ROSES AND FATE!! than I'm ever really a fan of. I hope it inspires more intellectual anime though, we could always use a bit more of that.

Shuffleair In reply to Raiphin [2011-09-19 21:33:56 +0000 UTC]
We do need more intellectual anime. I'm not sure if next season will contain any of that.

Raiphin In reply to Shuffleair [2011-09-23 02:48:24 +0000 UTC]
It is true. Did you watch the Noitamina show C? It...tried to be intellectual. Didn't always succeed, but I appreciated the attempt. ^ - ^;;;

Shuffleair In reply to Raiphin [2011-09-23 20:45:26 +0000 UTC]
I actually didn't like C. Yeah, it tried to be economical, but... beginrant
I hated how the ending for C was deus ex machina with sparkly bubbles everywhere. EVERYWHERE. The fight was nice though and it was well animated for a show that abused CG and had herpderp animations throughout its 11 episode run.
I also felt C had an interesting concept and an interesting setting, but it didn't really go anywhere. Is the show about economics? Is the show about Kimimaroβs dad? Is the show about Kimimaroβs future? And plus the show kept throwing out new concepts every few weeks instead of developing one coherent plot. Production was far too inconsistent with some fights being cut off, such as episode six.
And Kimimaro was such a bland main character. He lacked ambition throughout the first 2/3rds of the series and was just sadddddd at things. Everytime they had Kimimaro have a flashback about his "important things" he went back to that girl he had in class? We barely see him talk to her. He's had more interactions with the clown than he had with her.
endrant

Hah, I agree with basically everything you just said. I do like to take into account that apparently that particular production studio got hit "really hard" by the earthquake and that the show really obviously suffered for it, but it would have been nice if they could have adapted to whatever resources they had available to them rather than stretching(it seemed) to what they'd wanted to do originally and then having the plot fall down in the middle. I like the idea of C more than the execution I think, I wish it could have been all it wanted to be. It did occasionally however have really sweet fight scenes.

Would is trouble you at all if I could ask for a weapon comission of Kyouko's Polearm (manga version) if I could supply you with the supplies?
π: 0 β©: 1
Raiphin In reply to KiteSanjuro [2011-09-10 16:11:35 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm, well, I do enjoy making props (a lot more than sewing, actually) and I even have a thin metal pipe I was thinking of using for Madoka's bow but didn't...I could probably do it for 75$ supplies included(pipe, substructure for pointy bits, probably some wood and air-drying Sculpy or PaperClay so it could be sanded blade-y, sandpaper, use of gesso/school glue/paint/spraypaint, blahblahblah) BUT I couldn't start on it until after Halloween.
If I tried for Akicon I'd be rushing and I'm still pretty burned out from making Madoka ^ - ^;;
Soooo yeah, dunno if that would work for you or not? That would also give me time to work out a way for the blade top to be removable from the pole itself for easier/safer transport.

KiteSanjuro In reply to Raiphin [2011-09-11 04:38:09 +0000 UTC]
I don't think my cousin is in a rush for his polearm. He would like it for SakuraCon. So yea. I'll most diffidently help you getting the supples. I might also ask for Homura(Homuro's) Time Shield thingy. I could wait on that one too.
