I don't know if I'm in position to give you advise, but what I did and I do, is to spend as much time as I can drawing, using reference of photos and reading books of the guys that really know like loomis or hougarth. Pick your favorite artist and try to absorb as much as you can of them... dont copy them but try to understand how they resolve a sigle page to a complete page.
And draw until your hand hurts!
