Doing well. About to finish up Redwall Survivor. It's only got one more week to the competition and I'm sort of just wrapping up all the loose ends at this point. Been at school too, going insane from the workload >.<

It's a complicated process. Lots of work and coordination involved. But it's fun, and I've enjoyed doing it. This is the first time I've decided to admin one instead of participate as a contestant, and it's interesting seeing how the story has been developed by the writers I've gotten.Β

So it's a collaboration of some sorts where there are actual other writers? Do they all send it to you, and you edit it all to come together?Β

Yes, it's basically a collaborative story between 10 different writers, all of whom had to essentially audition for their part in the contest. When it started, there were 10 different categories that you could select from, and you would basically come up with an original character that you thought would fit that category, and then write a 600 word short story showing who they are and what they're like. Anyways, after a crazy application process, the best one from each category gets selected through a vote and everyone makes it into the competition as the cast of the story and gets access to hidden forums and skype accounts so they can plan with one another. Anyways, the planning is just crazy amounts of discussion and spitballing that eventually leads to a solid plot, and people will start writing their posts from their perspective character's points of views, and will put them on the hidden forum so that the other contestants and myself can read them, check over our respective characters to see if their dialogue is written correctly and they remain in character, and check for plot inconsistencies and proper pacing so that the story can flow properly. Then at the end of each round, a vote will be called to vote for the least favorite character, and whoever is voted off has to leave the story, either by killing themselves off, or through another method. It really is a fun process, and you meet a lot of fun interesting people, and sort of learn more about the thought processes behind making characters and developing them over the course of the story. But it is a time commitment. I've been coordinating the recent contest as the admin since June, and we're just now in the final round about to finish the story.

Oh wow, that sounds like a blast! Makes me want to join in on it now. Always stayed clear of it because I never understood how it really worked. Now it makes sense. Dang, and here I've been twiddling my thumbs at what to do for internet friends. Perhaps Ill give the published story a look at? Β

Please do. I have up to the 5th round posted up on Fanfiction, but we're currently working on the final round right now. It's definitely been a blast to read and work on, and any other people reading it would be fantastic.

Seeing as how I decided to write another redwall fic... I might as well give a few stories a look and your contest will be the first to get a few reviews. Β

Awesome Don't take it upon yourself to try and review every chapter though We have close to a hundred chapters for it now. But any other feedback is always nice.

This is the summary I used when I was advertising the Β contest to potential applicants. There is a bit of missing context regarding some of the backstory and whatnot, but I always did like this teaser for properly setting the mood and getting people interested, though the tone of the story does change a little bit.:Β
The sands are stained with blood and the water runs red. Piracy is officially dead, slain along with the legendary King of all Pirates: Captain Blade by the paws of the Badgerlord Atlas Stormstripe, and the Rogue Crew. The seas are finally calm, and, for once, progress has begun to push through Mossflower Country and the surrounding lands as trade has finally become possible. No longer do beasts pay with kindness but instead with coins, and villages and ports have begun to spring up all along the coasts, as if overnight, in the ever-expanding search for adventure, wealth, and opportunity.
But there are whispers in the wind, rumors that on an uncharted island across the sea, Captain Blade left behind a treasure the likes of which nobeast has ever seen, one that could make a beast richer than even in their wildest dreams. But the island is not uninhabited, and even the toughest of sailors have either not returned or have come home empty-pawed; their eyes filled with fear as they recite tales of bloodthirsty savages, giant serpents, and a mysterious spectral ship that appears from the mist on the darkest of nights.
But that is not enough to scare away everybeast, and ten brave beasts shall soon face the true dangers the island has to offer in their quest for riches. Who will live? Who will die? But most importantly, who will be the first to claim the Lost Treasure of Captain Blade?

Oooh, that does sound exciting. Kind of like a Falout DLC for New Vegas. Starts off heading down one direction, but it takes an interesting turn in another... Or it sticks pretty close to the stereotypes it plays. Whatever the case, always fun to experience. Thanks. Β
