my pleasure!! I've always been obsessed with collage art, since I was a child when I used to make collages out of food imagery from coupons, etc.Β
I have a secret stash of material (piles and piles) and I hope one day to try my hand at the form! Between my 14 month old, being self-employed and writing full-time, I just don't have the time and I think dabbling is disrespectful to the form.
Anyway....really love what you're doing! Do you do collage commissions by any chance? I'm a published poet and I always need cover art for future books.
Drop me a note if you want, regarding the commissions.

Let me thank you for commenting back to my favorite! I think you are the FIRST digital artist (and I follow and fav a TON of them) that has ever posted anything in response to what I did.Β I was starting to think it was a really elitist community.Β Thank you for taking the time out.
While I have your eyes, do you do commissions? I'm a poet and am always looking for cover art for various chapbooks, zine's, and full-length books.Β Drop me a note with your thoughts, information, etc.Β Really appreciated!

Hey, truly appreciate the support of my piece I was never a writer. , good sir, I'm elatedΒ it resonated with you in at least some capacity. It means a lot for you to go out of your way to read a complete stranger, so thank you.
(P.S. You have exceptional tastes in music, my man.)

hey man! Sorry I never responded to this.Β We NEED to turn this comment into a music discussion, right now! I don't even remember who I listed on my profile...what bands stood out to you?
π: 0 β©: 1
Carmalain7 In reply to PursuingTheCerberus [2013-12-14 18:32:05 +0000 UTC]
I will never say no to that.
Here's the list from your profile: Coheed & Cambria, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, AFI, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Circa Survive, The Dear Hunter, Mastodon, Tesseract, Protest the Hero, Haken, Leprous, Isis, King Crimson, ELP, The Mars Volta, Periphery, Pink Floyd, Rush
Of which, I've seen about half live, and most of the others I would if I had the opportunity to in a heartbeat. Also, an EL-P shout out from another predominantly metal-head is something that will always gain full respect from me; man's brilliant.

the ELP I actually referred to is Emerson, Lake & Palmer, BUT, I'm also a fan of El-P and agree that the man is brilliant.Β I have his work with Company Flow as well as much of his solo material.Β I'm stoked you know of him! I definitely appreciate some underground hip-hop (Sage Francis, Anticon, Qwel, Adeem, Aesop Rock) but find myself listening mostly to metal/prog metal/classic prog/symphonic/instrumental rock/post rock.Β I dabble in black metal, but not too much.Β Out of all those bands I listed I've seen: Co & Ca, Circa Survive, The Dear Hunter, Protest the Hero, Rush & BTBAM.Β Hope to see Mastodon when the new concept album finally comes out next year. Never got to see The Mars Volta (RIP), but perhaps I can see Bosnian Rainbows (Omar's new project).Β Who are some of your favs? How about top albums of this year?? Β Β

Carmalain7 In reply to PursuingTheCerberus [2013-12-20 01:00:42 +0000 UTC]
That makes the most sense, but mentions of Qwel, Sage Francis, and - my personal favorite - Aesop prove that somehow we shared a vibe.
I'm more the other end of the spectrum, actually. I dabble in prog/classic/symphonic, but definitely find my tastes (and knowledge specialties) lie in Black Metal, Sludge, Stoner, Doom - though post-rock, shoegaze, trip-hop etc. also have a key place in my life.
Being from Atlanta, I've been blessed to have seen and met the Mastodon guys many times ever since first seeing them while they were releasing Leviathan - really cool guys.
I actually tried to see The Mars Volta twice, had tickets and everything, but never got to see them. The first time the venue got hit by a tornado a couple weeks before their show (in Atlanta?!), and the second I drove out to Charlotte only to find out that they cancelled the show because they got in a fight during soundcheck. Obviously it wasn't meant to be.
My all time favorite bands will always include Opeth, Agalloch, Kyuss, QotSA, and Porcupine Tree - but it definitely gets pretty weird from there. As for the end of the year list, I actually am currently guest writing for the metal blog No Clean Singing , and thus can't reveal much via-open posts until it gets posted there.

Very cool ! I've seen Aesop live quite a few times in New York, even back when his album FLOAT came out, before he was less known.Β Β Sage Francis hosted a Jedi Mind Tricks show I went to in 1999 and that is the first I'd heard of him. He freestyled between sets and was wearing a Vanilla Ice shirt. LOL.Β
I'm a HUGE Agalloch fan.Β I actually just parted ways with Of Stone, Wind & Palor.Β I couldn't pass up the money.Β I got like 140.00 for it on Ebay.Β So I burned it and got rid of it.Β Pale Folklore is an album that I always play when writing.Β The atmosphere in that record is top notch. Love Against the Grain and The Mantle as well.Β Marrow of the Spirit took me a bit to get into, though I don't know exactly why....what do you think of 'Faustian Echoes' ??
Mastodon is incredible.Β Can't wait for the heavy, new concept record they've been talking about as of late!!
Opeth & Porcupine Tree are definitely top ten (maybe even top five) for me as well ! Incredible stuff throughout both bands catalogs.Β Didn't like the collab between Mr. Wilson & Mr. Akerfeldt too much though...

Aw man, super jealous of that Aesop worship - what a hero. And to have a memory akin to Sage Francis freestyling in a VI shirt, I'm not sure what miracles you preformed in a past life, but shoot mans, that's awesome.
I can understand that, being a fan of theirs and an avid collector always seems at ends with my income
I was a huge Marrow of the Spirit fan, saw them on the tour twice (so I could see them with Vindensang), got the clear vinyl, worshiped it, #1 album of the year, sold my soul, killed myself, probably went a little overboard. But yeah, that said, 'Faustian Echoes' might just be my favorite release they've ever done. As much as I worship most Post-Black, the roots being so prevalent on that release literally never let my attention wander. To make a single 30 minute track and keep a listener raptly at attention for the whole thing, I mean shoot mans that's crazy talk.
I also found Storm Corrosion to fall short of any and all expectations. It was interesting, but I'd always choose to listen to their respective works over it.
