Awe, thank you so much.

Which would be the best way to get into writing and drawing again? To start it small?

Hmm, it depends on what kind of person you are probably. But I think I would start small yes If you try something to big you might get discouraged. Maybe you can try out some simple tutorials or challenges to get in the flow of things again?

I tend to wants too much, to be too much of a perfectionist... started writing something today. Still looking for some "easy" painting to copy. Something with not too much light and shadows and not too many colors.

Then it's maybe even better to start small

I wouldn't recommend copying something... People here generally don't really appreciate it, unless you have the permission of the artist ^^ But there's some amazing references on DA that do allow you to recreate them or use them as a reference. What is your drawing style? Maybe I know something for you

I didn't mean to copy from an dA artist, but copying something old. (Permission is such a thing when the artist has been dead for ages, maybe is unknown). As Renaissance Paintings are too detailed, I was looking for something from the Middle Ages or Ancient Egypt maybe. With less details, light and shadows...

Not sure I have a style. Has been ages. "As realistic as I can do", what probably isn't very realistic. Definitely not Anime or something.

I'll check the references here, thank you. Also tutorials.

Haha, sorry. I didn't really think that's what you meant, but it happens a lot around here, especially among new members. So I thought I'd mention it just in case Hmm.... Maybe you can take a look at the website of the Rijksmuseum of the Netherlands. They've put a large part of their collection online, in extremely high quality. You do need to make an account, but that takes 10 seconds, and you don't get any advertisement-mail or something like that.

www.rijksmuseum.nl/en/search?i… You can search the collection here. You can refine by type (painting, drawing, etc.), and by period. There's no Egyptian work, but they do have paintings form the Middle Ages.

Thanks a lot for the link. I'll check it. Good for re-learning how to look in any case.

Found a library called "Artist's hospital" here, seems to be a collection of references and tutorials. Also found some high-res photographs of a skull someone uploaded for others to practice with.

RL keeps me a bit busy atm, but when I have the time again, I'll check all this stuff.
