Hello all, my name is Nyx, formerly known as NightRunner, sometimes referred to as Emily. I'm an undergraduate student working on my BS in Communication Disorders (Speech Language Pathology). I like chocolate, animals, my boyfriend, and drawing on my homework.Unfortunately this dA account is pretty neglected. I hope that once these busy college years are done, I can get back to making pretty pictures in my spare time while making cashmonies as a speech therapist.

that's cool, what classes are you taking?
I've been doing decent, almost have my associates in arts out of the way. Would have it by now if I didn't put off taking math classes, but since they're apparently needed for my transfer I have to take them, haha. After I transfer I'll be aiming towards my Bachelor's in Illustration (:

Ugh math classes. xD They suck. I still have to take stats; I'm saving that for spring or summer semester. >.< Bachelor's in Illustration is awesome!!! I'm working towards my Bachelor's in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and then will be going to get my masters right after bachelors, but I'll wait to see if I want a PhD or not. It would be if I want to do research on a university or hospital level. So I'm taking classes pertaining to communication/swallowing disorders, special education, ASL, and some basic level med school courses for the hospital field, though I'd prefer to work in school districts or therapy centers with children. (:Β

That sounds like fun, had you always been interested in the medical field? Do you have to take a bunch of math classes, along with the biology ones? You now have me curious, speak to me about thine program it sounds intriguing (:

More bio than math. xD But yes lots of both. I've always been interested in a field where I can actively help people who need it, and wanted first to do something in the psychology field because I wanted to know more about the human mind. But upon finding out more about speech-language pathology, I found something that not only lets me help people who really need it, but also gives me the chance to change lives with music. It's a little cheesy, but that's what I've always wanted, so that's how I got into it. (: And I really love it. Ask any speech therapist really, and they'll tell you how much they love it. It's such a rewarding field, and you can go pretty much anywhere with it.

That sounds really cool, I'm glad that you found a field that you're really interested in. Because that always makes the chosen interest a lot more fun to work with, even if it does get difficult. I wish thee luck with your studies (:

I'm studying communication disorders, which is the specific undergrad requirement for a masters degree in speech-language pathology. I plan on getting my Ph.D. C: Pretty excited but also frightened at the work load. It's an awesome job though, despite the insane masters program. It's basically med school. :c But worth it in the end!!Β

wow jeez that sounds awesome, my second choice would've been something to do with psychology, probably helping the high functioning emotionally challenged. But idk if I have enough for med school. good luck with that! it's gonna be a hell of a lot of homework but it'll be worth it for sure <:

Haha it's already a fair amount of homework. xD I'm currently doing a 10-12 page paper on anything I want pertaining to my major, and I'm doing this huge persuasive thing on why melodic intonation therapy should be revolutionized and applied to every speech disorder because it works!Β
that's also what I want to write my PhD thesis on and I think I'll die in the process ;-;
Also I love psychology so much. It's so fascinating!Β
