# About me

In the lands of Canterbury, there lies a Nertful force..

AMV editor, Cosplayer, Cosplay Photographer, I suck at all of them. If it's got a ManyLemons logo on it, it's one of mine :P

The videos and galleries can be found on my website, this here's a place I put doodles, colourings, pictures of my costumes, and some of the nicer cosplay photos I've taken. I've ended up a major quantity-over-quality photographer of UK anime conventions somehow XD Not proud of that but every time I see one of my photos used somewhere it makes it worth it.

On that note, do yell if you spot a photo of yourself up here, I'll be happy to credit your work of art ;)

Skin of choice: My own; it fits me.

i love your stereograms, how do you make them?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nert In reply to Tryana [2012-01-23 13:41:59 +0000 UTC]

You have to take two photos a couple of inches apart from each other horizontally, they make up what your left and right eyes will see. It's tricky to do with a single camera, especially as ANY changes even the slightest bit of wind will make your eyes go weird.

Once you've got your two pictures, stick one on top of the other in Photoshop or GIMP as a layer, make it 50% opaque and line it up so whatever the focus was on matches up (usually faces), things that were in front or behind that point will get a bit double-vision-y but that's fine. Crop the image so any gaps around the edges are cut off, and set the top one back to 100% opaque.

Double the canvas size and move the layers side by side (you want the photo taken from the right hand side to be on the left), and you're done! If things don't look quite right try swapping them over.

ahhhh thank you!!

now i need to apply this on drawings u_u

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nert In reply to Tryana [2012-01-24 09:52:45 +0000 UTC]

Drawings are easy and tricky at the same time, you can't easily have things smoothly coming into or out of the screen without a lot of patience! Everything is going to be on planes.

If you can keep your drawings digital it'll help XD draw everything separately as layers, anything that'll be in front of or behind anything else, so say.. far background, closer background, person X, person Y, car in front of person Y

Put them all in a group in order, then duplicate the group and call it Copy

Now for every layer in copy, pick which one is your focus layer, so say person Y, every layer behind that, shift left by increasing amounts, so person X shifts a little, closer background more and background even more, and every layer in front of it to the right. How far they're shifted determines how far away they appear from the focus.

Now treat them like the photos, put the groups side by side with Copy on the left, voila

Hey Nert!
Just wanted to say I loved your panel at Ayacon! Hopefully all your tips will show in my photos from the convention.
Would be quite interested in arranging some kind of photoshoot with you at some point, if you do that... Cause that'd be awesome.
xxx

Nert In reply to chimocho [2011-08-25 23:42:26 +0000 UTC]

Aah thanks Glad people seemed to like it!

AHA, the undead tinkerbell! I was meaning to track you down sometime! If you'd been at the panel I did last Minami and KitaCon you, er, might have found you were in it XD

If the tips do show up in photos I will happily steal them for future panels half the difficulty is finding anything that works as an example!

Sure, I'm always up for excuses to take pictures, I'm not all that mobile at the moment but I'm sure stuff can be worked out

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chimocho In reply to Nert [2011-08-26 09:40:20 +0000 UTC]

Haha awesome! Thanks for using me in the panels (assuming thats a good thing rather than 'this is how NOT to do it' >.< but still, if others can learn from my mistakes I guess its all good )
I'll be uploading Ayacon photos over the next couple of weeks, but do feel free to use any photos from my gallery that might be of use to you. I'd love to know theyre useful for something other than just looking pretty
And I saw from a few comments below that youre based somewhere around Croydon which is awesome as I'm mainly in Edenbridge/Biggin Hill which isnt too far away. So hopefully that makes photoshoot-arranging-thingamajigs slightly more feasible.

Nert In reply to chimocho [2011-08-26 16:15:14 +0000 UTC]

Hah XD Nah it was a panel about taking pictures, specifically a slide about making people feel at ease - I had one picture where you looked really bored, someone stopped to natter on their phone in between us and I did something like pull a face and shake a fist after they left and when I looked back you were cracking up XD that picture came out way better

Cool, I'll take a look, the trouble is the most useful stuff is before/after and bad pictures as much as good, no one tries to take or upload the bad ones XD

Ah yeah that's not too far from here - I'm basically in Old Coulsdon but no one knows where that is so I tend to say near Purley/Croydon!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chimocho In reply to Nert [2011-08-26 17:34:48 +0000 UTC]

Haha I'd love to see that picture then. And if you like, I'll upload some of the stupid shots that we took in my scraps specially for you Cause you were right, some of them did come out great

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nert In reply to chimocho [2011-08-26 18:25:40 +0000 UTC]

[link] is the slide XD

Still not an amaaazing photo by any stretch but was a good example of how much difference a genuine smile makes

Also I think the explanation was along the lines of "sometimes people are just having a bad day! maybe someone ran over her puppy this morning"

"It looks more like she killed and ate the puppy"

"Well, maybe she's regretting it then"

Cool

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chimocho In reply to Nert [2011-08-26 18:45:51 +0000 UTC]

Hehe awesome.
Yeah in all honesty that was a really bad day for me. Not quite running-over-my-puppy bad, but still pretty bad >.< The pictures of that costume I have in my gallery are from a different convention and comparing those ones to the ones you got you can see the difference. It's disappointing really as you probably could have gotten some great shots out of me any other day, but thanks for at least trying to get a good one >.<

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nert In reply to chimocho [2011-08-26 18:53:54 +0000 UTC]

Aww, sorry to hear that :/ That's kind of why I didn't drag you off to a better background, as soon as I asked it looked like you weren't in a great mood for it..

Although it's always hard to tell, sometimes people are just trying to get across that undead fairies aren't every happy about the situation!

Well, this sounds like a good reason to do new photoshoots to me
